I had a black 350Z for about 12-years.

I learned just how much birds pee driving that thing.

I had all the best juices and a random orbital buffer. When that car was clean it was amazing. Like a black mirror.

No, they’re high maintenance here. Yellow pine pollen shows on it.

I had a black car a while back. Black cars look beautiful when clean, but keeping them in that state takes far more effort than any other color of car. And if you happen to live in an area that is very pollen or dust prone, it quickly becomes an impossible task.

Years ago I had a 69 Camaro SS.  I HAD to paint it black.  Because in one of my favorite movies.  (Better Off Dead) There's a black 68 camaro in it.   I spent more time washing the car trying to keep it clean.

Never again will I have a black car.  My jeep (06 TJ) is bone white.  It looks clean for months.

Clean, black cars and trucks look great.  But, they show dirt waaaay too easily.

After having a whi car for a year now, I think whi is the way to go.

They look great if you have a butler who will wash them every few days.

I prefer grey. I know people think grey is boring, I don't, but they look good clean, don't show dirt as much, look good dirty, and aren't attention grabbing.

I've had 3.  I have one now.  I used to keep them very clean and shiny.  I no longer care.  Let the kids keep that dream, I'm done.

My wife has a black Trail Boss. It’s good looking but looks dirty quick.

I have a metallic/pearl white truck.  If there’s not mud caked on it, looks clean.

Black cars look pretty good but I feel tend to hide the body lines of the car , I think the best color is a dark gun metal grey - that way you don't lose the design of the car in black but still keep it good looking. IMO

My last Raptor was black, and I had a Black Ram at one point. They look so good clean…but the scratches, heat, and dust ruin it.

They can be really beautiful when clean.
They can be really beautiful at night (with light reflecting off), even when somewhat dirty/dusty/scratched.

If they aren't clean or if they have swirls/scratches, it's really obvious during the day.
Extra hot on hot summer days.

The swirl marks are all on you or whoever washes your car.  2 bucket method for the wash and a little quality time with a DA will make that car look fantastic.  Add a protective layer to make it last.

My Lexus is Cloudburst Gray and it looks clean even when it's nasty.  You have to get pretty close to realize it's dirty.  At 30 feet, you might thinknit was recently washed.

That's good and bad.  All of my other cars were washed as soon as I started to notice them getting dirty.  This one may go 3 months between washes.

Black cars can be hard to maintain but to make it worse, try to keep a black Raptor supercrew (or other larger truck) clean.  You need a ladder to do it worth a damn.  I needed a 2-foot step ladder and a 4-foot step ladder between the hood and the roof.  Even at 6'2" tall, I couldn't reach everywhere from the ground or the bed.  I miss that truck but I don't miss it.

I currently own two black cars.  I'd prefer to have them in another color, but they were what was available at the time in the models with the feature we wanted.  They look fantastic when clean.  But, they show every speck of dust/dirt when dirty. Getting them ceramic coated and hand washing makes them easier to keep clean and avoid swirl marks.

Black is the best looking color for a vehicle but it the hardest to keep clean.

Silver is the easiest and while not quite as stunning of a color also looks great on a vehicle.

Love - hate them. I had a black 1991 Eagle Talon TSiAWD.  I was living in an apartment complex with its own carwash.  I would run it thru the carwash most nights when I got home from work.  It looked fantastic.  Then I PCSed and could not wash it nightly and it soon looked like shit.

Black is beautiful and black cars matter which is why the wealthy often have them. They are also the hardest to maintain in appearance but then the wealthy often have someone to do that daily which again is why the wealthy have them.

Nothing gives away a poseur quicker than a dirty black car.

Nothing looks better when it's clean.

However, it is waaaaaaaaaaay too much maintenance to make them look good and they are hotter than a motherfucker if you live where the sun shines.

Never again.

I have a black Lexus.

It's the 'authentic' car color, as original Mercedes and Fords were only available in black.

Same in TX and CO. It'll take the AC 20 minutes to cool down the interior enough to touch anything.

This.  Swore years ago that I'd never buy another black vehicle because too hard to keep clean, and hot as hades in the summer here in Florida.

My (new to me) used JTR was a screaming deal.   >.<

To be fair, since I installed the insulative (Hotheads brand) inner insulation, the interior cools down stupid fast, and stays ice cold with little effort on the part of my truck's AC.

Trying to keep it clean still sucks.

Love/hate. Have my first, and probably only, black vehicle, an F150. When it’s clean it’s fuckin mint. But the 98% of the rest of the time it looks like dogshit. Just had to get it through my head that it’s my daily and I will never be able to keep it nice like any of my other non-black vehicles I’ve ever owned.

Agate Black on Fords looks fine because it has flake in it. Shadow black, never afuckinggain.

As a former auto detailer, would not

The best looking when clean by far.

Too much work to get it clean

Lasts for a trip around the block then it is dirty

If you look at it wrong it gets a paint blemish.

All my vehicles are white. Why? Not because it's my favorite color. White is an ideal color for a vehicle for several reason's. It doesn't show dirt, dents or swirl marks. It reflects sunlight so it stays cooler in the summer. White is one of two colors that make any vehicle look more formal, more so on luxury vehicles.

That is what happens to every vehicle when you take it through a regular carwash.  You just can't see it as much on other colors.

On of my vehicles is black.  Neither my life's value nor any of my happiness comes never seeing a spec of dirt or pollen on it.  It's a vehicle, a tool, and its worth is based on function.  I do wash it and it gets dirty often...but anything outside gets dirty often.
