That's my issue with them. I will never own a black, or any dark colored vehicle.

White is my preferred color, which I guess makes me a car racist.

Two things

1. Don't rent a black SUV and park in a mall outdoors.
2.  Same with a white Tesla

Indifferent. Owned pretty much every color through the years, own one black, one met grey, one bright blue atm.

Won't ever buy a silver vehicle; silver is lack of color and lack of taste.

Only black vehicle I ever had was a BMW 325is,never again,it is now my absolute last choice.

We have a black Jeep Cherokee (wife's) and a black RAM 1500 (mine) and we live 1/3 mile down a private gravel road.  My truck is always clean and my wife's Jeep is always dirty.  But when black vehicles are clean they look really nice.

I have a white car and my wife's is black.
Every time I look at my wife's car I see new scratches on it.
They are very difficult to see on my car.

I just want color options other than black, white, and three shades of gray.  In other words, I'd prefer to avoid black vehicles.  I've owned one, back in the days before I could afford to be choosy.  I highly doubt I'll ever own another.  Looked great when clean, but almost never looked clean.

Same as most- love them when they're clean, not a fan any other time.  Living in the south with the heat and pines, they're just about impossible to keep clean without a lot of effort then add Toyota's issues with their black and white paints (more than the other colors for whatever reason- I know, the EPA screwed up all automotive paints) and my hood and roof need the rust cleaned and to be repainted.  As someone else said, they show every defect like dings too.  I'd like to cave in the door of everyone who's door dinged me; yes, I do try to park in the back of the lot.

I don't really go crazy over the clean look which lasts about a day, but the amount of heat a black car sucks in is very uncomfortable in the heat here in Oklahoma. Seems like we have 5 months of summer and 5 months of winter. And that's on a good year. Usually 2 weeks of spring and 2 weeks of fall.
I get in my black suv during summer and temperatures are 20 to 30 degrees hotter than actual outside heat. Looks great clean and waxed though.

Can’t add anything new to the discussion.  I am curious if a good ceramic coating helps keep a black vehicle looking good.

I like the color on older luxury cars with lots of chrome.  An old Cadillac looks just right in dark colors.
From a practical standpoint, they show every scratch, and they show dust/dirt/pollen all the time compared to say something grey/silver.
Never really liked the color on sports cars, because the dark colors hide the beautiful lines/curves of them that lighter colors highlight.  Look at a pic of a Ferrari 308 in red and then in black, and you'll see what I mean.  Even with a Testarossa, the slats and coves get hidden by the color black.

It will definitely help.

Coatings make a vehicle easier to clean, and it stays clean longer.  They add a property of slickness to the finish, so there is less likelihood of scratching when washing.  They also enable blow drying of the car easily, which again, keeps another towel off the finish.

After the rain and snow we had, it doesn't look like this anymore.

It needs a good hand wash,  which isn't going to happen anytime soon.

Wizard car wash in Scranton does a good job, I'll have to go there.

I had a 2013 Jetta SE  in black, that was a sharp looking car.

Again, IMO, it depends on the car. Second Gen Camaro/Firebird looks the best in black.

I'm also a big fan of the combo but I just can't bring myself to get a black car and have to deal with it.

Have one. Hate the color. Swirl marked and full of imperfections from day 1. I despise when dealers 'clean up' or 'detail' a vehicle before delivery. I should have told them to keep their dirty dick beaters off of it.
The only reason I own it is the dealer was offering sizable discounts on their leftover 2023's... which were all black and identically optioned.

I drive a 2021 Tacoma now. White.

It looks awesome when clean. Shows dirt and is hot as hell in the summer. My next truck will probably be black I’ve tried other colors and the only ones I like as much are Granite Pearlcoat and White Diamond Tricoat, both of which show dirt pretty badly.

I agree. The darker green color is the only other color that looks good on those.

We have a member that has a beautiful Second Gen Cougar and I feel the same way about those.

Here in the USVI there are alot of black vehicles and mostly with black interiors.
I don't know how those people stand stand it, my car is silver with a grey interior and that car interior gets hot enough.

Never owned a black car and never will., GF's VW was black and that thing either looked like shit or great when it was cleaned up.

Just traded my Black daily driver in for a Silver SUV, could not be happier.

Still have an old C4 ZR1 in Black, probably sell it next year.

black is so plain, shows everything is crazy hot in the summer and one of the mort common colors out there. i prefer to spice it up some and get a color that not everyone has.
