Was looking for a lighthearted comedy to watch tonight. Came across See No Evil, Hear No Evil; would have been out when I was in high school.
Thought to look up other Pryor & Wilder collaborations, from what I found the above is the only one I hadn't seen. Wonder what Blazing Saddles would have been like with Pryor in a big role on screen, vs. Pryor just contributing to the screenplay? |

Dave Chappelle was Achoo in it. |

Nothing from Mel Brooks is remotely funny. Id rather watch paint dry..... Slowly....

Blazing Saddles is a work of art, I remember seeing it in the theater when it came out and we laughed for a week.
I have some un-opened DVDs of that movie, with the stupid shit going on these days, the DVDs may be worth a lot of money down the road No one could replace Cleavon Little, he was excellent in that role |

Quoted: I cannot imagine anyone but Cleavon Little in that role. View Quote +1 Pryor was kind of a genius, but could go dark places. He can do really deep comedy, but when he tried to do light humor it comes off sort of forced. It's like a R rated film trying to be PG. Watch Pryor on SNL, he can do all the edgy stuff without missing a beat, but when it comes to something slapstick he seems out of his element. |

Quoted: Which way is up is good. View Quote He's made plenty of really good films, I just don't think he could have pulled of Blazing Saddles as well as Clevon did. I thought Harlem Nights was excellent and the combination of Fox, Pryor and Murphy might never be surpassed. Even Arsenio was funny and that's difficult. |

I have never seen Blazing Saddles, or spaceballs...I need to watch them.

Quoted: Disagree. Young Frankenstein was so hilarious I can no longer watch Bride of Frankenstein and NOT see Gene Hackman. View Quote Attached File |

Check out this as well…
Paws of Fury: The Legend of Hank | Official Trailer (2022 Movie) – Paramount Pictures We’ve always joked that they could never remake Blazing Saddles in today’s culture. Well, it turns out yes they can. And it was pretty good too. Oh and it’s free on Amazon. Paws of Fury: the Legend of Hank. |

What’s funny to me about BS is that its biggest fans are also the butt of the joke.
They said the “N” word! Yuk! Yuk! Yuk! |

History of the World, part 1 is very funny……..

Quoted: Pryor was king of stand-up. Never comfortable with Hollywood. View Quote He might not have been comfortable with it but his comic timing transferred to movies well. Saw a bunch of movies with him as a kid in the theater that were hilarious, busting loose, silver streak, I even liked some kind of hero although that was a bit more serious. |

Quoted: I now regret making this thread, would have not thought to search for Pryor/Brando And now, seeing Kevin Spacey in this movie, See No Evil, Hear No Evil, I'm a bit more creeped out. View Quote But it's also got Joan Severance in it. Topless In a shower Movie is worth it for that scene, alone. |
