From a documentary with Mel Brooks, Mel said he wrote the jokes for the black characters, Pryor wrote the jokes for the white characters.

Could this movie be even made/remade today? Not a chance today even if the Wayans or Typler Perry did it. Now I would say 10 yrs ago, maybe, but there still would be some stuff not allowed.

Fully agree. Seinfeld…always a bunch of sniveling grown up whiners

As far as Blazing Saddles, the whole cast played against each other extremely well…….it just flows so smoothly.  Even the fruitcake Dom Deluise, even though he was better in History of the World Part 1 as Nero

If that's the same one, I am thinking about he wanted Pryor to be the Sheriff, but Pryor turn it down because he felt he would take too much away from the other characters.

I now regret making this thread, would have not thought to search for Pryor/Brando

And now, seeing Kevin Spacey in this movie, See No Evil, Hear No Evil, I'm a bit more creeped out.

But it's also got Joan Severance in it.

Topless

Movie is worth it for that scene, alone.

Couple decades later, I discovered that the 4:3 DVD version shows more than the 16:9 Anamorphic Wide-screen.

The scene where he tells her to put her hands up? You know exactly what happens but don't see it in the Wide-screen version. It's shown in the 4:3 version.

Story I read said the movie company couldn't get Pryor insured due to his drug issues etc.  Brooks really wanted Pryor and almost quit over the deal but they worked out a compromise eventually.

Blazing Saddles is a work of art, I remember seeing it in the theater when it came out and we laughed for a week.

I have some un-opened DVDs of that movie, with the stupid shit going on these days, the DVDs may be worth a lot of money down the road

No one could replace Cleavon Little, he was excellent in that role

I ordered the unrated, uncut DVD because one day, they will no longer play it on TV anymore and my kids need that kind of culture.

I was basically replying to a previous posters' comment on Pryor's films when I was a kid. Superman III was 1983 and Moving was 1988.

Randy Quaid ready to mow the lawn.

Dana Carvey and Richard Pryor's brand new Sabb.

Attachment Attached File

Moving is a 1988 American comedy film starring Richard Pryor as Arlo Pear, a father moving his family cross-country.

Plot
Arlo Pear (Pryor) is a transportation engineer living in the New Jersey suburbs. One day he goes to work and meets a new female co-worker, and when both of them attempt to enter their keys in the same office doorknob, Arlo guesses what has happened and confronts his boss, Roy Hendersen. He learns that his company has merged with another, and now Arlo is out of a job.

Just watched it at your recommendation.  Wow, very much a kids version of Blazing Saddles with a touch of High Plains Drifter.  Lots of jokes/one liners from early Mel Brooks works, to the point where Richard Pryor was given writing credits.
