I need to rewatch Blood Diamond it’s been too long. Great movie. Is that rifle 11.5”?

Is it wrong that I'm more interested in his camo than the rifle?

My first AR was a Bushmaster A2 model with 14.5 barrel with AK 74 brake.
I love the A2 carry handle. I put a Aimpoint Pro on it for a few years then removed it and put a Burris AR 332 on it. I needed the Aimpoint for a different AR. Love the rifle |

So does anyone currently make an A1 style upper receiver with a shell deflector?

Tbh, I prefer carry handle mounting over most mount heights. Cheek weld is gay. Chin weld is quicker.

Quoted: I believe that was a Blackhawk Down Gun. View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes South African mercenaries carry an unusual Colt CAR-15 variation that does not appear to be a factory-standard gun. These rifles have the receivers of M16A2s (which would normally suggest Colt Model 725s), but they also have 10-inch barrels with GAU-5/XM177-style flash-hiders. They were most likely custom-assembled for the film from the parts of various AR-model rifles. It should be noted that similar rifles can be seen in Black Hawk Down, and Bapty & Co. supplied the weapons for both this film and that one. Besides their unusual combination of features, the mercenaries' CAR-15s also feature camouflage paint and accessories such as Surefire 660 weaponlights and Aimpoint CompM2 red dot sights. Near the end of the film, Archer uses one after killing its owner, buying time for Solomon and Dia to escape before succumbing to his wound. |

They have some green triangle handguards floating around, been contemplating those for a commando/A2 style build

Quoted: I thought that DiCaprios character snagged the rifle out of an armory at the mercenary camp before taking off? View Quote No. He grabs a small pack and some basic supplies, and maybe a satellite phone (I forget if he had it or stole it). No weapons or ammo. When he kills the mercenaries as Solomon is digging up the diamond, he grabs one of their carbines, stuffs a couple of mags in his cargo pocket, and takes off. |

I have a stripped A2 upper sitting in the safe. This has given me some ideas.

Bump because these things are awesome. Help an ignorant dude out here, what's the best way to put an Aimpoint PRO or something similar on a fixed carry handle? I have to assume there's something better than slapping a picatinny rail section up there, but I'm down to do so if that's the way.

I absolutely love that rifle setup. It is not the most practical or high speed setup out there but it clearly has all you need to get some work done with it. I wish I would have bought an a1 stripped upper last year when I had the chance for cheap. I would totally build this setup.
