Also, he needs a proper 601 lower on his 601.

That said, still gorgeous rifles.

Agreed, but the grenade ring swap is an easy fix.

We make a bayonet lug for Mossberg 500 shotguns that takes the FN pattern bayonet. And this would be a similar concept.

Basically, in order to fit on an AR you need a flash hider that gives you a step/shoulder at 1.5" from the front of the FSB.

The back of the bayonet stops on the front of FSB and the latch snaps down behind the step on the back of the muzzle device.

Just had surgery Monday, so I’ve been stuck in the recliner surfing Arfcom and other gun parts sights.  Saw this thread and decided I need to build a Blood Diamond rifle.  Just sold my house so a lot of gun parts are in storage and I think there is an A2 upper in storage. Just deciding on barrel length, 10.5” or 11.5”. I’m leaning towards 10.5” with the 607 moderator. I love the retro style rifles and the paint job I think really makes the rifle look awesome
And since it’s now a carbine thread

My complaint only lies with the carry handle mount. I had to put red locktite on it to get it to stay.

My project:  upper started out as a complete M16/604, lower is by NoDac Spud.  Added a gooseneck mount with a Aimpoint style RDS.  Also added an M203 side sling mount with a canvas M14 sling.

Not sure the brand but it’s of decent quality. It has a spring washer that wasn’t doing what it should.

If we are talking about TNTE, I've had an order in since 03/12. I expect it around July....but I'm patient.

Will an A2-mounted suppressor not work with the length of the A2X?

Guess I’ll post this.

I’ve been collecting these parts for years and finally have everything that I need to assemble it. I mocked everything up last fall and still haven’t actually assembled it.

I’m honestly thinking I’ll just sell the barrel and buy something else, as the pinned A2X won’t allow me to mount a suppressor.

It will work technically if using a gate lock can like Griffin Armament or KAC but if it was pinned on where a crush washer was used that’s no good. Might have baffle strikes

I didn't even know this was a thing, making blood diamond guns, I thought I had this unique idea a couple years ago, but here's mine. It's cheap as hell, Anderson lower, old ass M2 aimpoint, 14.5 upper than I permanently attached a moderator sleeve over so I don't have to deal with the NFA (this is a beater gun).

I'm not in love with the height over bore but sometimes it's just fun to shoot something different.

As an added bonus you get a retired special forces dog, who refuses to leave my side when I'm home.

In his biting people and sniffing for bombs days.

What lower would you suggest if one was going to copy the Blood Diamond carbine?

And where to look the carry handle upper.

The gun used in the movie had an A1 lower with commercial Colt A2 markings (including safe-fire-burst selector markings).

That looks like the "improvised" XM177 sling; it's one of these:

Remove the metal clips from each end and rig up a loop of paracord in its place. Instructions here:

The barrel in the film was about 11”, but it’s prohibitively expensive to have one cut to that length.

I opted for 14.5”.

10" for movie carbine.  Moderator screws right down to front sight base.

"Preferred length" would be personal preference.

For clone of Blood Diamond carbine, go 10".

It’s actually a little longer than 10”, they were 20” barrels and were cut down.
