I agree on some assembly line type jobs, but farming? He is the definition of an elitist asshole.

Bloomberg's own statements are the best opposition to him. Going to be interesting to see how the media carries his water for him if the decision is made that he is the candidate. Biden's misspeaks, Pete's cloudy past (cough CIA) as well as selling minorities and middle America on his preference, Bernie's age/health and communist past all pale in comparison to the unending stream of arrogant authoritarianism that flows out of Mike's piehole. |

On manufacturing jobs he would be generally correct. This is why many large companies build their factories in economically depressed area's. Low education, low skills, low wages. Automation picks up the slack. |

I've lived and worked on our family farm my whole life and have been working full time for 10 years, if my dad and grandfather left tomorrow and I had to run the farm, I would fuck it all up. There's so many different things to be thinking about and doing all the time. You have to be obsessed with details to keep a farm running well and your equipment in working order. The amount of different things you have to know how to do is arguably more than any other profession, there's so many aspects to farming these days.

Okay, Mr. Bloomberg, here is a 24 row corn planter, and the 200 hp tractor that pulls it. Please read the inch thick manual for the tractor and the three manuals for the planters. Don't forget to change the oil, replace any filters, install any software updates to the tractor, planter, GPS, radar and camera systems. Will you be planting regular corn or organic, what fertiliser will you use? What corn variety? What population? What additives to the seed will you order. Since the seed will costs hundreds of thousands of dollars will you get you own dealership or find a supplier who will deliver the seed as ordered, and on time. Will that dealer back his product if something goes wrong. Please program the GPS and planter software to adjust population for the soil test you had taken last fall. Didn't do that? Well you better do it now for all 5,000 acres. Will you be sidedressing or broadcasting. What herbicide will you use. Are there herbicide resistant weeds in some fields? if so, which ones and how what will you tell the sprayer. Have you filed all the Federal paperwork where you swear your method of tilling/planting meets USDA requirements? Did you convert a wetland last year? Have you sold any corn for the 2020 crop? Do you still have 2019 crop to sell? Have you considered 2021 crop? What is the local basis for corn in your area? Are you going use options to manage risk? What about crop insurance? Which of your farms will go into ARC or PLC? If ARC, which of the three sub choices will you pick? Do you have your corn yield records up to date with your crop insurance company and with USDA?
Now for soybeans. Will you rotate with corn or go all corn? What about nematodes? Fungi? Are the 32 additives to the seed adequate for your needs? Do you have to sign a contract, that says you cannot replant any of the soybean seed? Remember they use satellites to spy on you for using their seed. |
