Well, we mostly make bourbon. But also rye, vodka, and Gin. I actually wont be makeing any more rye and will move away from that, I think. I would rather make a single malt instead, though terribly expensive.

While it's somewhat difficult for me to judge size, ok, I get it.... you own a distillery.  Very cool!

Rye is the one thing I haven't been able to find a single small bottle of!  Only 750ml.  Not the end of the world, just made me think of it.

I love rye bread, but not sure if that's an accurate gauge of if it's like rye bourbon.

Whistle Pig is a rye distillery. Sazerac is getting fairly easy to find and is good. But Americans don’t seem to love Rye whiskey like they do bourbon. It’s more spicy, think nutmeg and cinnamon.

We are not big. The mash tun and still you see in the background are 600 gallons.

There are other distillers on the board as well. Several breweries and I believe a cider guy as well. ARFcom has a wide reach.

I have been thinking of doing an ARFcom get together here but the problem is there are no hotels, not much for restaurants, and we are rural.

I'm thinking RV's, tents and pig roasts and BBQ would work...problems solved!

Got up at 0530 to head out to our local spot this morning.  Made it there by 0615 and were first in line.  The OHLQ (Ohio Liquor) website said that location had Buffalo Trace, Eagle Rare, Weller Special Reserve (wife's favorite), and Weller Antique. They didn't have the Antique, but they had all those others plus Blantons and EH Taylor. We have plenty of BT, ER, and Blantons. She grabbed a Weller, I grabbed the EHT (our first), and I went around again for another Weller for her.

Woodford is better than Trace

Well, I should hope so at $10 more per bottle. Buffalo Trace is great for $24.

I sent OP some samples, about half were 2oz samples and half were 1oz.
Mostly barrel-strength single barrel stuff.

The allocated bourbon chase is insane.

Years ago I got an email from liquor barn that they were having their pappy drawing.  Something like 1200 bottles for one store.

Drive the wife and grabbed a ticket.
Won a bottle of 10 year old rip.  $70.

One guy walked out before us with a bottle of 23 year pappy.
He sold it in the parking lot for $3000.

Trying to rewrite his palate with the high test I see.

Our local liquor store does sample pours, always has store picks. I have bought lots of stuff that readily available by tasting before. Also greatly expanded my pallet. A lot of folks get hung up on age statements, “oh that’s just MGP”, “why buy that, know one knows who they are”.  I care about what is in the bottle, does it taste good or not. Getting the taste also gives the store a point of reference for new recommendations.

If you haven’t tried these, give them a go:

JD Bonded and Bonded Rye
JD Single barrel and the SB Rye
JD barrel proof and Bp rye
Hemmingway Rye MGP and some KY rye finished in rum seasoned oloroso sherry casks
Smoke wagon Uncut/unfiltered
Tumblin Dice sb pb heavy rye mash bill
