Maybe trigger? I don't know.

TA01 is a good optic, just not the TA33G-H, which is effin amazing.

MLOK is fine.  Rifle's looking good, bro.

I have an 18", too, and don't sweat it. It makes for a nice rifle, and the muzzle blast is a little less as well, which is nicer if you're nursing a hangover.

But seriously, I do find myself wanting juuuust a little bit more glass.  I feel like a 1-6x would totally make the 18" shine. But I'm still waffling.

I've got drill this weekend, though, so that's some extra $$$ I can dump into either glass or NV.

Pffft, that's what QD mounts for your optics are for, so you can put that extra glass on it when you feel like it.

The difference is full length top rail and the barrel nut system.

I've installed both types, and the Geissele system is MUCH better (ALG still gets ideal torque value, too, but uses shims to time it).  And, the tension mount of the rail to the nut is better that the cap screws, IMHO.

Is it worth the extra $150?  Couldn't say.

If you need the full length top rail (NV? Lasers, etc?) then obviously you only have one choice, but otherwise, if you're willing to do a little more work on the install, the ALG is perfectly fine, too.

Notes from shooting stuff out in the desert today.

I took a BUNCH of guns out today, either stuff I bought that I hadn't yet had the chance to shoot, or new builds, or stuff that had recently had major work, and needed to be ops checked.

I took:

My newly hacksawed, faced, and crowned SLR-107CR (AK-104).

SLR-104UR (wanted to make sure it operates without defects before I get the form 1 back and chop it, too)

LWRC Six8 (Hadn't had a chance to shoot it since I bought it)

LWRC PSD (recently swapped out the stock and trigger)

VEPR 12 (new purchase)

Saiga 12 (recently installed auto gas plug)

Newly built .300 BLK 10.3 upper, with YHM can, shooting subsonics (I can't believe how much fun that fucker is)

SCWAR (tested on my pistol lower with newly installed SIG brace)

In progress CWAR build (just lacking the TA33)

For the purposes of this thread, we'll only address those last two, the others are off topic for this thread.

SCWAR:  I need to go back and use more Rocksett than I did the first time around.  Geez, that little fucker is concussive.  It's a hell of a lot of fun.  The SIG brace velcro strap is a great place to put the Geissele Cola Warrior patch that I recently received with my order of a MK8 rail and four gas blocks.  I am going to abandon Aimpoints and any other red dot for use on my "short range"/SBR type guns.  Red dots are damn hard to see under full Mojave sunlight, but a green reticule TA44 shows up fantastically, and works great for fast, close shooting.  The SCWAR functioned without any hiccups or stoppages of any kind.

CWAR:  Really, this was just a function test, as I don't have the ACOG yet, and don't even have any BUIS on it.  I did, however, have the DBAL-I2 mounted, although it's not been zeroed.  Still, I decided to give it a try.  Mojave sun is too damn bright, I really couldn't use the green laser on any targets that were out in direct sunlight, but targets in the shade, I was able to see it adequately.  Sure, it's not zeroed, but everything I put that dot on and pulled trigger on was destroyed or sent flying.    I love the feel of the rifle, it's handier than the weight would have led me to believe (almost 8 pounds unloaded, just the gun and DBAL).  The instant that TA33 comes in, I'm taking the CWAR and SCWAR out to the Clark County range to get them properly zeroed (laser, too) and get some shooting for groups done.

For both:  The Geissele gas block is superb.  None of the three guns I've put them on has had the slightest problem.  So much for being nervous about getting them lined up and installed correctly.  Now I can comfortably drill and pin them.

Do it Blitz. I have been on the fence for years. Ordered an XPS2 just cause I didn't want to throw down the cash for the TA33. Then a few months ago a TA33H-G popped up on a local board for $650. Didn't even hesitate getting rid of the XPS for it. It really is an awesome optic.

Anything under $900 for a TA33G-H is a "buy it now" price (assuming the lamps are relatively new - if they're a few years old, perhaps $800 or less).

Brand new at retail, $950 is about as much as I'd be willing to pay.

Lets get official.

CWAR- 18 or 16 inch accurate barrel. Full length rail. TA33, SSA-E trigger.

She-CWAR -14.5 pinned lightweight barrel, Full or mid length rail. (Mod 0 is MK4, Mod 1 is ALG EMR.) SSA-E trigger.

ROCWAR- 12.5 barrel, mid length rail.(Mod 0 js MK4, Mod 1 is EMR.) TA33, SSF trigger.

SCWAR - 10.5 barrel, mid length rail. Low power optic (T-1 or TA44s), SSA-E or SSA trigger.

ROSCWAR 10.5 barrel, mid length rail (G or ALG), TA33 with top mounted RMR, SSF trigger
Rails are Geissele Mk4 or Mk8, or, where allowed, ALG EMR.  MLOK is permitted, dickmod is NOT.

Heavy ass stocks are frowned upon.  Lighter weight gives bragging rights.

ETA:  Also, no LaRue mounts for the ACOGs, they sit too low.  Original Trijicon mounts or the hard to find Bobro work.

Really? Most 3-9s aren't that good.

Even the Trijicon, it's $700 for a 1" tube scope.

And sure, it hits the 6x I want (at half power) and the 3x you need (at third power), but... it's not ultra tier 1.

I have shot an Accupoint before, though, and I like the glass very much. 1" tube, sure, but it does make it a little lighter weight I suppose. I actually like that it has capped turrets, as I'm just going to use a hold in the field anyhow (BDC or a drop chart), and I can afford it right now without any worry.

Of course, with that scope, I guess I should think about offsets or something, too, and I'm not crazy about bolting extra stuff to the rifle.

I guess the question is whether dealing with offsets is worth saving $500?

Correct.

And remember: It's a variant, not a clone.

Clone rifles are built to resemble the real thing which was actually used by a military/LE/etc. unit.

We actually use our rifles for the intended purpose, therefore it's a variant.  All the posers in the tech forums have clones.
