Once they mark a place they want to return to it. The odor is like a sent marker. Keep the litter box clean and make sure there is enough litter. They like to dig and cover up their pooh. Make an Oxy-Clean solution and use to clean up spots. Also try putting mothballs in the area they are sneaking to. They usually hate the smell of mothballs and will avoid the area.

My cat welcomes me home every day, follows me around, wants to be near me and get attention, and curls up with me at night. That's because I've spent time with him, he trusts me, and I don't mistreat him. Treat them right, pay attention to them and you will have a good friend. They can still be assholes, but they're not JUST assholes. |

I can't wait for the next sick puppy thread. I'll post this link and pile on the antifreeze jokes with impunity like the dickbags in this one.
When my cat was going through something similar a switch to soft food turned things around for a year or so. |

Apparently according to arfcom if your cat pisses outside the box they are sick and will die soon.
Well, a broken clock is right twice a day.
