Lost both engines and didn't make it to the runway. Comments are saying it hit a truck and witnesses don't think anyone got out. ETA: 3 out of 5 on board got out

Wow. Truck driver killed too Im assuming?
Imagine driving that truck. My first thought would be swerve to the shoulder without even checking your mirrors. |

Left Ohio State University this am on direct to Naples..... wonder who was on it...

Damn!
That’s one of East Shores Jets. They got smacked by the FAA a few years back for unauthorized operations. |

News per ATC audio is saying lost an engine or both, which is really unusual on a landing scenario. |

It flew almost right over my house shortly before it crashed. I’m shocked I haven’t heard any sirens or anything. When exactly did it crash? |

Dat truck in the median.

Looks like they got on the ground pretty good then likely hit a car or wall. The rear of the plane and rear gear looks fine. Sad.

Those CL-30's get good range of 3300 miles and burn less than 300 gal/hr. No idea how they didn't fuel up for that flight... unless it was something stupid they did.

5 souls on board, 3 made it out.
Crash was on landing, wasn't a contamination issue. Fire says they had plenty. |

118/111 knots is very slow for that type. Hard leading edge super-critical airfoils don’t like slow. [edit] or any type of contamination. |

Holy shit, not often a dual engine aircraft loses both engines.
Fuel? We recently had an issue where de-ice fluid was placed in our fuel instead of PRIST. |
|
At first I was wondering why it landed into the flow of traffic. The marks on the walls make it look like it landed with traffic, then perhaps spun into the wall and then ended up 180 degrees to traffic.
Tag for more info on occupants and condition of the driver of the vehicle involved. |

Those are ground speeds. No idea indicated but I figured they would have a headwind turning final.

And in other non-news, Friday afternoon I-75 traffic is at a standstill...again

So full fuel is approx 2500gallons/16500 pounds
Likely tankard fuel to Columbus which round trip dependent on winds and stuff is about half the 604 range. So based on the post accident fireball they either had a lot of contamination or just ran out of fuel |
|
Quoted: My guess also. Both don't quit unless they don't have fuel. View Quote There’s many reasons why dual failures occur with plenty of fuel on board. Flt 1549 suffered dual engine failure due to birds. In 2008 British Airways 777 went down due to fuel icing on approach, DEF contamination knocked two Citations out both suffering dual engine failure a few years back. |

ATC Audio Start 8 minutes into it.

But 2 hrs and 850 miles of flying makes contamination a curious possibility. Weather was around 7knts, clouds broken at 5,000 feet and 74 degrees. Maybe birds? |
