The case has expected transit wear, but is in great shape. Inside, though?

It is brand freaking new, I doubt it was ever used outside at all. It even smells new. 1991 date of manufacture.

It works, too. It's too windy out, or I'd take it outside and try it out. I am VERY pleased!

Got mine yesterday too.. Although, it was definitely not new! Lucky you! The image quality is REALLY good for this price. I can't believe they had this technology when mine was built (1979). There's plenty of ambient light in my sub, so it literally looked like daylight. I would say it's at least as good as my friends Gen 2, although obviously heavy. Basically, all the sample pictures and videos don't do it justice, just like all NV via a cam. In addition, looking through the recital is awkward and is easier with my left eye. There's also a shutter in the eyepiece that I may remove so I don't have to press my head against it constantly (I'm not going to war and don't care about the green glow ). The Bundeswehr green is nice and retro, but I may FDE Duracoat this thing at some point.  This weekend I will get out to the desert to see what it can do in starlight/moonlight.
I had some conflicting info on what mount I would need to get this on a picatinny (mostly from vendors not describing what they are selling in complete detail). Therefore, I've included detailed pics of the ARMS mount (19a) you will need - if you want quick detach :

A buddy and I bought these a year or two ago and they worked great !! Came with 3 separate mounts for different weapon systems and run on standard "C" size batteries. Picture has some barely noticeable graining when in use. IIRC it's like 3 gen one tubes in series so each tube is amplifying the output of the previous tube giving it about gen 2 quality. The mounts alone are worth at least half the price of the entire package. Zeroed mine to my FAL, though mine didn't come with a user's manual I found one in English out at the KCR MG shoot for $20 IIRC. Search the web for cheapest pricing then get SPG to price match so if anything is wrong you have their return guarantee...

No idea. I bought mine from Copes, but maybe Luchs will chime in here as he seemed to have gotten a new one - that's a deal.

Mine's from Copes also. I apparently just got lucky with their random pick and got a new one.

ETA: They may be back in stock at Cope's. The add to cart button is back.

If you guys are worried about the 1000 hour "Life" keep in mind thats more of a half life, the image may dim to about half of its original brightness in that time, and than in another 1000 hours may dim half of that, its not a lifespan like an incandescent bulb, where it just burns out and becomes unusable. one of the problems with these scopes being gen 1 cascade is Streaking when passing a light source through the viewing area.

Yup, Copes is good to go. I've ordered many times, and had a few issues. Once a box of ammo was stolen off of my porch before I got home. Emailed Copes and they sent a replacement the next day.

On this order my scope was missing one of the mounts. I emailed them and they sent a replacement the next day.

And then there was this package.

I noticed my Z51 scope has a mount on top (4 holes) which I assume is for an IR illuminater. Even though these are passive an IR-I may help increase its clarity in a no star light situation. Has anyone tried mounting a small commercial IR-I on one of these? Just curious if doing so would make the clarity even better. I know in combat you would not want an IR-I, but for our use it may be worth it...thoughts?

I have both. The Zeus almost gives as good of a picture as my headmount. I use the Zeus for shooting small varments from the back porch with a .22. I bought mine for $500 and it was worth every penny. I also use it with a small mounted IR light.

Went to sight mine in yesterday, and since my PTR has some alignment issues (2 other scopes needed shims) my center is exactly between the center
dot and the 2nd from the top dot. . . not enough travel in either direction .... however I did accidentally leave the power "on" when I put it away around 3 PM
and when I got home at 6, opened the case it was still on (granted it was not magnifying any light while in the case) I've heard the batts on some other units
(PULSAR) barely last 20 minutes.
