This is what I sent them all. "Murder is already illegal. Assault is already illegal. Guns on school property is already illegal. Do you see a pattern here? The thing about criminals is that they are...criminals. The criminals already are willing to break the laws and kill people. So, do you really think that banning anything is going to have any effect at all on crime? Driving Under the Influence is already illegal. Doesn't stop the drunks from driving. I anxiously await the call to ban Ford and Dodge, and Chevrolet. Children killed is a tragedy. But using this tragedy for your own political purposes is disgusting. And a waste of time, as this will not stop anything. If you have paid any attention to the rest of the world, there were 20+ stabbing victims in a school in China, on the same day as the murders in Connecticut. People are the cause of ALL the violence in the world. The tool doesn't matter." Should send this to Dear leader and his people.............. Wait I think I will......... |

You really don't get it do you? My property and I am free to sell it where and when I want to .
Quoted:
Just sent this to my Congressman: Dear Mr Wittman, Do I support strengthening gun laws, yes, to a certain extent. We should have more in depth background checks that actually take into account the mental health of the applicant. The "Gun Show" loophole, restrict the sale of private firearms at a gun show, problem solved. snip Thank you, Andy Bard |

Dear mister Boner,
I know you'll do whatever the fuck you want, because you don't give a shit about me or my interests. An Informed Voter. |

Quoted: Contracted and wrote my district rep as well. I contacted one senator, and my rep soon to be senator come January. Since I now live in NC, I may try to figure out who my rep there is (or will be as soon as I get a new drivers license and reregister come January) and email them too. |

Dear Rep. Boehner, I am a registered Republican and have consistently voted for those Republicans who promised to uphold all of our civil rights, including the right to keep and bear arms. I want to take this opportunity to remind our elected leaders that the Second Amendment is not about hunting. I implore you to remember the demands of your constituency and trust you will do the right thing. Oppose any bans on any style of weapon or magazine size. Shift the focus to the real issues of our mental health system. Don't punish the millions of law-abiding semi-automatic rifle owners for the actions of the evil, especially considering rifles are used in less murders than fists, knives, and bats. This is my most important issue and I would have a hard time continuing to vote or contribute to the Republican party if this type of legislation passes. Ooh, that's good. This is a mental health issue. |

I edited it to this:
Dear Rep. Boehner,
I have voted Republican every election of my adult life. If the Republican party allows any sort of gun or magazine ban to pass, I am DONE with the Republican party. We had a worthless "assault weapon" ban for ten years, which accomplished nothing. If the party allows any part of that back, I will never forgive them. You have the House. You WILL protect our rights. If the Republican party wants to do something constructive, I suggest removing gun free school zones, and restore rights of parents, teachers, principles, and admin to conceal carry a firearm on school grounds. Please write back immediately. Sincerely, MDracer76 There should be no reason we should shell out even more tax dollars to have a 'security guard' at every school when restoring peoples right to carry on school property costs nothing. |

I just emailed Congressman Jeff Miller. About to email Boehner

Contacted my congresswoman, Both IL US senators
and sent this to GOP I’m a registered voter in Illinois and I have voted republican ever since I’ve been old enough to vote. I support the GOP on a majority of social issues. Due to recent events I would just like to inform you of how strongly I’m opposed to any new antigun legislation . This includes any form of ban or restrictions on so called assault weapons or high capacity magazines. If the GOP supports any form of new anti gun legislation I will never vote republican again. I cannot stress how important it is that you do not compromise on American’s rights to bear arms. |

Done.
There wouldn't be any way to take my message other than the way I intended. |

Honorable Sir,
I have no doubt that you are being pressured from sides you didn't know existed, in the furor resulting from the horrible tragedy in the CT elementary school. Sir, you must stay strong and resolute in your stand against those who would further attack & ultimately abandon our Constitution in the wake of this atrocity - using it/the victims as a convenient excuse to diminish the 2nd Amendment. Please, Mr. Speaker. PLEASE! Don't allow the enemies (to borrow a term from the President!) to take us down this road! I honestly don't know your personal views, but you swore a sacred oath. Be the man for whom that actually MEANS something! Our nation is under attack from so many directions and already hardly resembles the beloved country in which I grew up. I beg you, sir: adhere to the principles for which this once great nation stands. If we lose the Bill of Rights . . . we'll never recover and truly are doomed. The 2nd Amendment is the guardian of the rest. Without it, it's game over. Sincerely and respectfully yours, xxxx xxxxxx Gettysburg, PA |

Did it days ago. Another good tactic is to fax any politicians office. When the piles of paper are filling the machine it makes a good statement. Great thread lets get going .

Here is what I wrote Mark Warner who changed his stance on gun rights after this last incident. I was not especially happy to hear that you would now like to put further restrictions on law abiding firearms owners. The person who committed the act had major mental health issues, so much so that his mother was looking to have him committed to a mental health facility, BUT COULD NOT because he was over the age of 18. The Aurora shooter, VA Tech shooter (whose doctor stole the records to save his own hide), Jared Laughner, Columbine shooters, etc etc all had some sort of mental health issue that went unaddressed. In your emotional response to the shooting, you have scapegoated the gun like so many others. Timothy McVeigh killed 168 people including children with a fertilizer bomb, the 9/11 terrorists killed more than 10 times as many with an airplane. An upset school handiman blew up a school in 1927 (when full auto firearms were legal). "Assault weapons" are responsible for less than 1% of firearms related homicides. My firearms have yet to take a human life and I do not appreciate being punished for the actions of a person who actually used stolen firearms in the commission of his murders. Instead of standing on the bodies of dead children to push an agenda that is not your own, take a step back, think about it, and make a logical, informed decision. Thank You. Good letter |

I am writing this to request that you not support bans of any sort on firearms or bans regarding the capacity of magazines. I am a firm believer in the RKBA, and believe that in regards to the mass-murder atrocities, mental health should be the primary focus. I do believe our system need an overhaul, and psych tests should start being given to grades 6-12. These sociopaths can be identified early, and with proper overhaul of our mental-health policies, can be cared for before things happen as they did in Newtown. By going for firearms, you are not going for the root of the problem. The root is the mental health of this upcoming generation, and how to properly deal with disturbed individuals once they are discovered. I absolutely and in no manner support any further laws or legislation regarding any further restrictions on firearms. Thank you for your time. |

What issue category did you guys put? I put 'None', but where is the 2nd amendment category?
