I remember seeing one of these in person for the first time. Seeing it in pictures doesn't do it justice. All I remember thinking was, "DAMN! This car goes on forever!" Loooong car with that nose length added on. And that wing? Damn thing is HUGE!

The coolest street car that wasn’t a homologation special has to be the 935 “street” Porsche built for Mansour Ojjeh.

I am a huge 911 fan and the Porsche authorized slant nose 911s were something special.

The current 911s and the latest GT3 seem to be returning to that form factor.

GT40s are amazing as well.

Should I ever win the lottery my garage will consist of...

Around 20 various Mustangs
Every generation of Viper ACR
Every generation of Porsche GT3 and GT2
And a superperformance GT40 and Daytona Coupe

No need for anything else.

Doesn’t fit the category per say as none were ever sold. But it is a “street” car and a cool story. 1 of 1 Nissan R390s made so they could race the GT390 in Le Mans.  They apparently offered to make more for consumers but no one bit on the $1,000,000 price tag in the mid 90s. NASCAR should change the rules to:
Must produce.....hmmm...say atleast 5,000 cars for regular sale to the public.
No mods other than basic safety shit. Roll cage, harness. MAAAYBE brakes and tires.
Race what you sell.

That would bring them back to their roots and liven things up a bit I think.

The "Ford GT" of the early 2000's captured the essence of the original GT40 quite well.  It also added in some creature comforts that a "real" GT40 never had, like air conditioning.  The "real" GT40 was God-awful hot inside in most climates.

The roots of NASCAR are specifically modifying the cars to be faster than "what you sell"

As far as ridiculous stuff spec-wise, the late Evolution RS200s are just gonzo stupid.

Did you want a 700-800hp mid-engine AWD car that weighs 2300lbs? Yes? There you go. Yay, Group B.

Most of them are street-legal cars at this point, too (like the pictured one; it's plated).

Saw the first post's street GT40 at a GT40 reunion at Road America in 94. It was VERY original. Paint was getting a bit thin, and the fiberglass texture was starting to show through. But still magnificent.

Shit, that is easy.

Go cruise in your Sting Ray late one night.  Wait till the E pulls up on your right.  Go that dude one better because you've got the nerve.  Race all the way to Dead Man's Curve.  No way that Jag makes the corner after it starts to swerve.

I suppose I can’t blame them, but those laps at Spa were soft.
Nowhere near wringing out those 289s as capable and intended.

It's mind boggling (to me) to see how much thought goes into a machine like that car.

With all the gazillion different ways to design all that shit, they picked the ones that added up to a winner.

A truly classic case of "The whole is greater than the sum of its parts."
