I got a pair for in the winter ( sheyenes, tan and tourquise).A pair of ariats boots for riding the horse and another pain of low dingos I wear with certain jeans..love mine

Never worn a pair. Girlfriend says I'm buying some soon though, so we shall see...

Big fan, own several pair. I have on a pair of Ariat square toes right now, good comfortable work boot. Most recent pair I bought were custom fitted sharkskin by Black Jack. I have several Black Jack's, their forms match my feet better than most.

Hated them when I was growing up because we always bought cheap shit and they always hurt my feet. Now that I buy my own stuff and found some that are comfortable it is all I wear with jeans.
I'm wearing Irish Setter works boots now and Double H Hippo skin dress boots. Both are great. |
|
Nope, they hurt my feet. Style wise, sure they are great, but my feet are messed up and the pointy toes hurt like hell. I have looked for round, or box toe styles, but not had any success.

I haven't owned a pair in 30+ years. Was a fan. Don't have horses, don't ride except for a guided nose-to-tail glue factory tourist trap a decade ago.
First generation of my family that didn't grow up in the saddle. ![]() |

I need to have a custom pair of mine resoled (leather). Any suggestions in Plano and areas north are appreciated.
Fan, BTW. ![]() |

Wore them for a short period when I was a kid, then I grew up. I ware steel toed boots during the work week, on the weekend I ware sneakers or my old Army boots...or flip flops if I'm staying in my house.

Makes my back hurt just thinking about it.
I have several pairs for weddings and funerals. Makes me avoid going to them even more than normal. |

No. I'm not from TX nor do I try to make people think I'm from TX.

I searched high and low to find a pr made in the US. Looked at many of the more well known brands and was disappointed. Went with Double H. View Quote |

I never found any that are comfortable. I prefer a flat heal for dancing. I don't know where to even start looking.
My wife has some and I hate it when she wears them. When we are dancing it is as if she is wearing snow shoes. It's better when she is in heals. |

Do people here really wear cowboy boots made in China? Went with Double H. ![]() ![]() |

If I recall correctly I liked them in the 70s and 80s.
Now it's flip flops. The secret to life is comfortable shoes. ![]() |

I've been wear cowboy boots since I was 5, close to 60 years. I have quite a few pair of a Justins that a friend of mine in California would special order custom made. Black bull hide, pointed toe and riding heel. Most have Vibram soles on them, 2 pair have leather soles. I do have one pair in brown. I cajn't find the boots I like in Texas, but all the cowboy boots I have are made in Texas.
At work I wear Wolverine Western Wellingtons. Normal cowboy boots don't stand up to oil well. |
|
I've never warn them. But most guys I Know wear them, even the Steel toed boots.
I think the boots look good, I was going to get a pair actually. But then new s.o.p came down about requiring metatarsal boots. No more cowboy boots at work. I have family members who haven't worn anything but boots for...well their whole lives now that I think about it. 60 years. And if they do own a pair of shoes they are the velcro kind. And only one pair. White or black. Lol |

If you are buying cowboy boots off the shelf then you are doing it wrong. You can get lucky and find a good fit if you have a common foot shape and size. A well made pair of boots will last a very long time and are made to be re-soled. Most of the boots being sold in chain western stores are not made to re-sole and many are made to low standards. If your feet hurt when wearing your boots then you most likely have the wrong size or heel that is meant for you. A walking heel is different than a riding heel and so on. There are some great custom shops that make boots in and around Fort Worth. You will pay more up front but you won't be looking for new boots for a very long time.
Ariat bought Justin and most of their boots aren't made in the U.S. You can find really good lace up boots still made by Justin in the US but they run over $200.00. They are made to last and worth the extra cost. |

They are about all I wear. I love a proper pair of round toed boots and ropers. The only square toe boots I might be interested in would be steel toed.
I love roughout boots but they are hard to find. What ever you buy, keep them polished and clean. |
