The supreme stupidity of trying to stand up for the little guy while trying to portray the rich guy as evil is what gets me.
It is a logical paradox loop... "Dear small fry John Q Public, I listened with much empathy and sadness in my heart as your poor dumb broke ass came to our council meeting and you plead with us not to use eminent domain to take your property.
