Detroiter here. Buddys was always awesome for the last 50 years or so, but they expanded too quickly over the last 5 years and the product is not as good as it used to be.
Green Lanten Pizza is the new "Buddy's" to me. They have been around for a long time and consistently make fantastic Detroit Style pizza, as good as or even better than when Buddy's was in its prime. https://greenlanternpizza.com/ just order any pizza square and they always make it Detroit style. |

I'm more offended by you dumb bastards saying that's Chicago style deep dish than OP's concoction. Stick to flyover state staples like Domino's and Pizza Hut.
I would eat some of whatever that is you made OP but that's not any type of pizza I've ever seen. |

They do have good pizza and are one of the offshoots from Buddy’s. But I think Green Lantern is even better. |

I don’t recall us ever ordering a full pizza from there. Mr. C’s was similar to Buscemi’s as well. We would ride our bikes to the one on E. Warren and get a slice and a Faygo for like $1.00 back in the 1980s. Those were the days. |

A Place called Klavon's in Vandercook Lake make a pretty damn good Detroit pizza.

|
Quoted: that's not detroit style you dumb bastard unless by detroit style you mean shitty looks like chicago style View Quote Can appreciate the OP's effort, but it doesn't look like either to me. Chicago style is a casserole with borderline mushy dough crust. I've always understood Detroit style as basically square pan pizza with a buttery/crisped crust outside. All the crust is killer but man, it's good. |
|
It ain't "Detroit style" unless the pan is drenched in butter and it soaks in/carmelizes on the crust while baking in the oven.
