Hey-- BayEagle, and others with bigger boats in Fla,, what do you do with your boats when Hurricanes threaten your area?? View Quote Some people haul them out on land, some people run them out of the storm's path, some take them out and anchor them away from other boats. Most I've seen here just do what we did and hope for the best. |

@goodn What's going on in this picture? Why is this needed? View Quote They are for lifting the pontoons out of that water at the dock, But people have been known to use them for anchoring at shallow sand bars so they can fish, get boozed up, whatever else. In general for docking, keeps the boat from getting banged up at the dock. |

I skipped the 2 greatest days of boating ownership and kept my money. I have too many hobbies that are money pits and nothing is a money pit like a boat, except flying

Is that the substation off of Carpenter Dam road? Used to have a cabin over near Garvin Gardens and that looks pretty familiar. I can't quite make out the text on that sign. Nice boat! View Quote And here is a picture of a picture of my old jet boat. Attached File |

2018 Charger 210 Elite. Came with heated seats and a night vision camera. https://i.imgur.com/HjdoTRC.jpg View Quote Funny thing is aside from a wonky trolling motor pedal my 1,800 dollar 35 Merc outboard setup probably does the job just as well for my purposes(inexperienced fisherman on lakes 400-1000 acres, no more, mostly drifting for pike) but holy hell do I want a serious bass boat. When we were seriously looking at moving to Fon Du Lac I'd really want something better to get out on Lake Winnebago and cover ground better. Of course if I were going to spend that kind of money on a boat I might just look at something used I could get out on Lake Michigan. |

I envy those with actual working boats. Mine is a LOOONG term project, originally bought in 1990 from a scrap yard in Barstow, CA. This is how it looked when originally found..... https://photos.imageevent.com/ricklarson/stabphotos/huge/stab1.jpg https://photos.imageevent.com/ricklarson/stabphotos/large/a441.jpg This was a few years ago but pretty much how it still looks today. In the process of restoration but it has been slow. Too slow but available time and money dictates the pace. https://photos.imageevent.com/ricklarson/stabphotos/huge/P1010373.JPG This what it looked like during its tour in Vietnam in 1970. It's the one in the middle. Officially, it's a Strike Assault Boat, or STAB. Also known as a 24 foot utility boat, MkII. Twenty two were built, with two remaining in the U.S. as training boats. All the others served in Vietnam including hull No. 21. These were the fastest boats in the delta and could hit 55 knots with a clean hull and two fresh 427 Chev. engines. They were propelled by Mercruiser Group III outdrives with 19" props. Hopefully, we'll get it back in the water before I croak. https://photos.imageevent.com/ricklarson/stabphotos/huge/6_lg.jpg This one is not the 21 boat but gives a good idea how they look at speed. https://photos.imageevent.com/ricklarson/stabphotos/huge/Stab6.jpg View Quote |

I would really like a 17 foot Mako or Carolina Skiff similar to the Mako in the pic a few posts up.
Maybe in a year or two.... |

It has an unbelievable ride in the chop and is very stable. I forget how small it is when we run it sometimes. I bought it for my kids, but I enjoy it so much I hardly use my big boat anymore... |

That is an awesome boat
