I get a six figure bonus divided 40:60 between August and February, contingent on meeting my annual goals, now that I have left the Federal government where I used to get a $4000 bonus in January for meeting my goals.

Our company Christmas party is this Thursday.  We get a $150 steak dinner and open bar at a nice steakhouse.  Spouses are invited, particularly since I need a DD. I'm going to see what $50 a glass bourbon taste like. I've had $100 bottles, but we'll see how obnoxious a drink I want to order. I think I saw a $75 glass of bourbon on the menu.  We'll see what the bonus is, but the owner is extremely generous and has done well over the past few years.  He gave away a pool this year to a needy family.  So getting a bonus definitely isn't a problem.

I moved to this company I'm at in March.  I've already gotten a $500 bonus for Thanksgiving and a $1500 bonus for a project completion.  We get our lunch paid for every Friday.  I am 100% commission on the design/sales of pools/landscape for custom homes.  While there are problems at the company, I'll also make nearly twice as much as I did at my last place and feel appreciated.  So it's been a good move for me.  Just feeling appreciated and the same pay was all I was after, but I'll take double the money.  I am absolutely amazed at companies (or I should say business owners) that don't value good people, treat you like shit, and are surprised when you leave.

Current company we get a "COLA" bonus the first pay day in December. Granted, you are a dumbass if you take it in pay vs the 401K/HSA or 401K and HSA split option because uncle sugar taxes the fuck out of it.

New company. No. I'll be merit and I *think* they do performance bonuses around this time but I honestly don't know. I know scale employees don't get anything.

On a serious note, one of my mid-sized clients tossed a Christmas party that cost about $20k for 300 employees at the HQ. That would be ~$68 each person. Then they would bitch about only getting $68.

No, I own the company so I pay out the Christmas bonuses.

We had a magnificient meal last Sunday evening and I passed out the Christmas cards with cash in them. I've learned from GD that people prefer cash over anything else so that's what we do.

If you don't get all of that stuff as an office bitch, Move. NOW. Fuck that shit. If you are a PM or an Estimator, you are worth your weight in gold right now. Everyone needs one or both of those. My buddy just left as an Electrical Super at a tech firm jobsite to go to another GC to do the same project and his new base pay is $230K. Unless you are making that, you should be getting paid holidays, paid vacation, profit sharing and bonuses.

Only once.

I worked at a chemical plant, making all sorts of pesticides.

Christmas bonus was a crisp, new $50 bill.

A different job shut down between Christmas and New Years’ - no pay. Use your vacation time.

I am not in a payroll line that includes bonuses. So as a plebe I will take what is offered which last year was a 100.00 gift certificate to a meat market. We used ours for sausage.

I did get a 7% raise so I am not complaining too terribly. My pay still needs to improve but I digress.

We get the holidays off paid, but I have call out duty.

Last couple of years since I've been with the garment company I do graphics for, they send out packages with garments, hats, masks (those were in 2020) or blankets as gifts to employees, usually printed with the company name.  This year they gave everyone a $50 coupon code and the link to the company store with available garments to choose from.  I only picked a sweatshirt and a hoodie, which hit the discount amount at $25 apiece.  I almost didn't use it as I have a lifetimes supply of military tees, polos and long sleeve tees from 14 years at my last job doing nothing but military designs.

My last job just took us out to dinner or had us over and they had a friend that cooked cater the dinner.

Yes.

Wage folks got about $6/hr for profit sharing. I think the average bonus was around $11,500 for them.

Salary was around 12% of base pay for most people (it does vary some) which was not as nice as last year's 16% but I cant really complain

I'm blessed.

Not sure yet.

First Christmas with this law firm. To be fair, we do get a bonus every month based on our attorney's fees. So I'm not going to be mad if all we get is a free dinner this Thursday.

When I was legal clerk our boss would double our paycheck. He rocked.

Been with the same company, basically, for 25 years.
We were small at the beginning, and yep, got a Christmas bonus every year.

Fast forward a few years, we get bought.  Christmas bonus became a huge dinner for employees and spouses with gifts.

Fast forward a few more years, we get bought again.  Christmas dinner for employees and spouses with gifts became a catered lunch during work hours for employees.

The bigger we get, the less we get.  Sigh.  At least I didn't get a pink slip yet...

No Christmas bonus yet.

I just started with this company at the end of October. I don’t know if they do one for Christmas. My regular bonus will be in January or February, it should be 15%.

They did fly the whole company and spouses to Orlando, put us all up at Coronado Springs at Disney and we had a 3 day training/party that was pretty awesome. They even took everyone to Epcot. So far they are far and away the best place I have ever worked.

I started too late in the year (late October) so I won't get one this year.  From what I understand, guys in my department are getting between 4% and 6%.  Management and engineers are getting something like 10-15%.  This is a HUGE company and they had a good year financially even though they were reported to have missed profit targets.  I don't know how related it is but the stock price went up 40% over the past month or two.  Maybe next year will be a banner year and I'll get to enjoy a nice Christmas surprise.

When I started working ( HS, late 70’s ) Christmas bonuses and parties were common place.
Through the early 2000’s, I always got a bonus, a personal gift and some kind of off site company or Dept party.
From ‘92 until 7/22 when I retired, I’ve been in healthcare.
Around 2005 or so things really changed and most hospitals quit doing much for employees as far as bonuses went.
Last year, during Covid, the CFO came by and gave me a cookie with a note that said “thanks for sticking around”. I’m serious.

I used to get a Christmas bonus.

Then I started my own business.

4.5 years of that, and deciding to close it at the end of 2020 was one of the best decisions I've ever made.

I got another Christmas bonus last year trying to help my friend's company grow.  It was a hatchet.

This year there is no Christmas bonus, at least not monetarily.

Getting all the work done that I've been completing this year will be bonus enough.

Whatever I start doing in 2023, I pray it has positive impacts on a lot of people.
