Nope. Stolen around 1981. My second gun was a cheap ass Brazilian double barrel that broke a firing pin after only a few rounds being fired. I still own my 870 Wingmaster purchased new in 1979 for $195.
No, I sold it years ago. The oldest gun (by purchase date) that I still own is a Gemtech Outback .22LR silencer bought in 2004.
Single shot 10 ga that a neighbor gave me when I was 18. Long gone sadly.
My first was a Sig P228 I bought in 1996. Great gun. I still have it.
Yes. H&R .410 my dad bought me at a gun show when I was 9 or 10 years old. I remember like yesterday the harsh recoil when I put some 3" shells through that thing with its hard plastic butt plate.
R.I.P Dad 2023. |
686-2 with 6” barrel. Still own. Best single action trigger ever. Bought at Bill Goodmans at Hara Arena in Dayton Ohio.
Winchester 94, built in 1954 or so. My Grandpa gave it to me December of 1968. He got to pick that one and another one off of the production line at Winchester.

Yes, present from my dad for my 12th birthday. Belgium Browning SA-22 Grade II with a "Browning" 4X scope. Still have it, still near-mint condition. I still take it to the range on occasion when taking my .22 pistols/revolvers for a rimfire trip. I never have cared too much for the bottom eject when shooting from a bench.
ETA: I also later had a Belgium Browning Grade II BAR .30-06 with a "Weatherby Imperial" 3-9X scope. Sadly, I no longer own it. Question: does anyone know if Browning and/or Weatherby actually manufactured their own scopes, or did they just brand another manufacturers product? |
Nope. C&R Mosin-Nagant M38. Traded it for a microwave because I was a poor grad student.
Nope, wanted a 1911 (this is WAY before the internet was a thing), closest in looks was a S&W 645. It was MOST definitely NOT a 1911. Trigger was shit, safety was shit, once I learned a lot more I got rid of it and never regretted it.
Nope. Used Mossberg 500 12ga. Couldn't hit crap with it. Kept it for years for "sentimental" reasons, got sold years ago. I'm a guy who only gets to shoot a few times a year, not a museum. Plus nobody cares about dad's old $175 shotgun.
I'd rather leave my kids 1 or 2 cool guns than 17 base model clunkers they have to deal with. |
First was a Glock 23. Sold it like 8mo after I owned it. Never owned another 40 aftrr that. Replaced it with an HK USPc 9mm, which also got sold though I have my 4th now and its not going any where.
No longer in a financial spot where I need to sell one gun to buy another. Also did just pick up a Ruger P90 from the EE which was the first pistol I ever shot when I was about 10. |
Kind of. I was given a Winchester .22 semi-auto when I was six or seven years old (I actually don't remember which)
A few years ago I gave/loaned it to my younger brother to take his kids out shooting with it. I never got it back from him, but he would give it back to me if I asked. If jams a lot these days and It's just not that fun to shoot. |
Quoted: Yes. Ithaca M-49. https://www.ar15.com/media/mediaFiles/411387/5352-1_jpg-3224531.JPG Just like this one. $20.00 View Quote That was my first also. When Ithaca came out with the repeater I traded that one in. Still have the repeater. |
The first gun I ever owned -sort of- was a Ruger 10/22, which my dad had to actually buy because I was only 16 or so. I still have it. When dad passed away two years ago, among his papers I found the original receipt for $125/with tax, from Caso's Gun-A-Rama in NJ. The first gun I ever purchased myself was a Ruger Mk2, which I still have. $143 OTD from Fields Jewelers in Tucson.
Yup. Mossberg 3 shot bolt action .410.
Dad gave it to me when I turned 8 years old so I could actually hunt instead of just stomping brush piles for the hunters. Killed a lot of squirrels, and rabbits with that thing. |
Yeah, a Winchester .22 lever. I haven’t shot it in 35yrs probably. They are going for big money, I may sell it.
I have no kids, so… |
Quoted: No. Richland Arms Model 200 12ga dbl barrel, stolen by a burglar in the late 70s. https://i.postimg.cc/fLj7h9DD/Me_Richland_200_12ga_(1).jpg View Quote @67Firebird Awesome pic! '76... '78? No, I don't still own my first gun - A 1988 Cabela's ordered .54 cal CVA Missouri Ranger my mom ordered for me when I turned 16. My 2nd gun, a single shot, bolt action .22LR Marlin 100 went to my stepson. My 3rd and 4th, Colt M1991A1 and Ithaca Model 37 went to my middle son. My stepdaughter and daughter are gonna get something when they stop being wishy-washy. My youngest son will inherit a 10/22. In my opinion, fathers should always hand down their first gun(s). |
Yep. Steven’s Model 940D .410 single shot. Had dark varnish on the wood that was scratched up pretty badly. My dad gave me a broke piece of glass and showed me how to scrape the varnish off, then we stained it with brown shoe polish. I was a skinny six year old that got put on my butt the first few times I shot it.
yep, 870 bought new for $135 in the early '70's.
I have bought a skeet barrel for it that I use for grouse hunting and a slug barrel for deer. I have killed, Grouse, woodcock, ducks, geese, squirrels, rabbits, deer, possum, skunk and some other assorted stuff that I can't remember right now. Never killed a turkey, no season for them at the time I was hunting heavily in the mid '70's. |
I got the first 2 guns I bought in the early 90s.
-Taurus .357 6" barrel wheel gun -Ruger MkII bull barrel |
No, my first gun was a single shot bolt .22 and I sold it at a garage sale back in 2004 or so.
I still own my first 3. Ted Williams 30-30 (modeled after the Winchester 94), Ruger 10/22 Sporter Deluxe and an H&R Topper Model 12 ga.
Sure do. A Ruger 10/22 I bought new at a department store in 1978 when I turned 18. It is sitting in my gun safe right now. Paid $60 for it.
No. It was Colt SP1 no assist that I bought when I turned 18. Traded it off many years ago.
Yes.
Remington 1100 12 gauge Magnum I know it’s about 50 years old now |
Yup, a Winchester single shot .22 rifle. Can't count the number of bricks I shot through that thing.
First gun I was given? Yep. Ruger m77 in 243, mannlicher stock. AWESOME first deer rifle and I toted that thing so much I wore the finish off at the pommel. It'll be daughters first deer rifle and my sons after that. First gun I ever bought was a mossberg 590 which I immediately put a pistol grip on and pretended I was born again hard. I was not. Traded it for something worthwhile I'm sure.
Nope. Didn't come from a 'gun family' so I've made some mistakes over the last 30 years but am very pleased with what I have now.
Yep, a Rossi 62SA stainless .22LR pump from when I was 10.
From before they started putting clumsy afterthought safeties on them. First gun I ever walked in and bought myself is my S&W 629 6". My 21st birthday present to myself. Gotta get around to fixing that Hillary Hole, though. The only gun I've ever parted with was a Kel-Tec P32 that I was given for free, and later traded to a friend for a computer. Should've kept the gun. Otherwise I still have them all. |
Sadly, no. S&W 4" 686 I bought brand new on my 21st birthday......
Yep. Sitting on the desk right in front of me as I type this.
Yup its a 870 clone made by H&R that i bought in 2008 when i lived in the hood. My neighbor on one side was a drug dealer and the other side got their door kicked in and robbed. I thought maybe i should be able to protect my girlfriend and cats so i bought a gun.
Why yes. Yes I do. In fact I have never sold a gun I have purchased. There's 1 I want to but I can't get 1/2 of what I paid for it and it serves a purpose.
