Lots of songs do have that effect on me, but this one really hits me hard for some reason. I found this song by YT suggested videos after a close personal friend died. There really aren't any lyrics. It's just a mood.
I know it won't be everyone's cup of tea, but it means a lot to me. Kid Francescoli - "Moon" (Official Video) |

When my son was in Iraq in the Marines 2006-2010 he signed me up to get " Leatherneck Magazine ". Each issue had a small section of Obituarys of those young boys who'd died in Afghanistan and Iraq. Thinking of those young boys 17-22 as one listens to the words of this song RIPS your heart right out!!!! " They fold up the Stars and the Stripes for his mother and gently trade her the flag for her son---------- A harder exchange never took place in Harlan , but it's not the first time it's ever been done " .

I remember watching an old Movie called " The Desert Rats " about the 9th Australian Inf. Division holding Tobruk agaist Rommels Africa Corp. The were asked to hold for several months but ended up holding it for 242 days under constant artillery barages and attacks some going literally stir crazy living in fox holes underground bunkers and dealing with the desert elements . At the end they are finally relieved and as the British tanks are rolling towards them in relief with bagpipes playing this song plays in the background so I always associate the song with tears of joy that they can finally leave the hell hole they'd been in for so long!! It's a very popular Aussie folk song that I believe many would like as their National Anthem. Waltzing Matilda-------

Quoted: The first time I heard David by Cody Jinks I was completely floored because it represented me and my best friend from high school really well....such a good song.... View Quote I think many of us can relate to that song in a way. That friend we lose touch with that goes down a different path. I've seen Jinks 5 or 6 times live and it's one of my favorites. "And I found his truck in the floodplain upside down It was a hell of a rain I didn't know if he'd drowned Or if he died on impact, it must have rolled three times Yeah, the only thing to make matters worse Is that his mama's a late night ER nurse And he was DOA, she just about lost her mind" |

https://youtu.be/rtOvBOTyX00 https://youtu.be/Dm4dVhE6UZI This one just gets me for some reason. The wife and I aren’t getting any younger and it reminds me that there will come a time when one of us won’t be around for the other. Goddam this is a depressing thread. A couple more I was reminded of listening to the Mark Knopfler song in my earlier post.
This one chokes me up every time. It’s a song he wrote after reading an article about the phone calls from the towers and planes on 9-11 https://youtu.be/rH6ZW7OLhkE Good version with Emmylou Harris https://youtu.be/jK_9ppta_M0 One more 9-11 memory I can still remember pretty vividly. https://youtu.be/36pLG8KI2dw |

James Blake - The Wilhelm Scream The XX Intro long version] Phosphorescent - "Song for Zula" (Official Audio) Song for Zula Lyrics.. Some say love is a burning thing That it makes a fiery ring Oh but I know love as a fading thing Just as fickle as a feather in a stream See, honey, I saw love. You see, it came to me It put its face up to my face so I could see Yeah then I saw love disfigure me Into something I am not recognizing See, the cage, it called. I said, "Come on in" I will not open myself up this way again Nor lay my face to the soil, nor my teeth to the sand I will not lay like this for days now upon end You will not see me fall, nor see me struggle to stand To be acknowledge by some touch from his gnarled hands You see, the cage, it called. I said, "Come on in" I will not open myself up this way again You see, the moon is bright in that treetop night I see the shadows that we cast in the cold, clean light My feet are gold. My heart is white And we race out on the desert plains all night See, honey, I am not some broken thing I do not lay here in the dark waiting for thee No my heart is gold. My feet are light And I am racing out on the desert plains all night So some say love is a burning thing That it makes a fiery ring Oh but I know love as a caging thing Just a killer come to call from some awful dream O and all you folks, you come to see You just stand there in the glass looking at me But my heart is wild. And my bones are steam And I could kill you with my bare hands if I was free |

Quoted: We were listening to a Christmas playlist a few months ago and one of the song lyrics made reference to "Two Little Boys". I was stumped, as was my wife, so we looked it up. The lyrics are really cool...but do you know anything about Rolf Harris? He turns out to have a conviction on 12 counts of indecent assault on a minor and four counts of producing indecent child images. One of the girls was eight. Anyway, he didn't write it, thankfully. Two little boys had two little toys Each had a wooden horse Gaily they played each summer's day Warriors both of course One little chap then had a mishap Broke off his horse's head Wept for his toy then cried with joy As his young playmate said Did you think I would leave you crying When there's room on my horse for two Climb up here Jack and don't be crying I can go just as fast with two When we grow up we'll both be soldiers And our horses will not be toys And I wonder if we'll remember When we were two little boys Long years had passed, war came so fast Bravely they marched away Cannon roared loud, and in the mad crowd Wounded and dying lay Up goes a shout, a horse dashes out Out from the ranks so blue Gallops away to where Joe lay Then came a voice he knew Did you think I would leave you dying When there's room on my horse for two Climb up here Joe, we'll soon be flying I can go just as fast with two Did you say Joe I'm all a-tremble Perhaps it's the battle's noise But I think it's that I remember When we were two little boys Do you think I would leave you dying There's room on my horse for two Climb up here Joe, we'll soon by flying Back to the ranks so blue Can you feel Joe I'm all a tremble Perhaps it's the battle's noise But I think it's that I remember When we were two little boys View Quote Country Gentlemen--- Two Little Boys Two Little Boys |

Quoted: National anthem w flyover View Quote Kinda hard to do in a Hockey Rink ! But seriously my wife just got her US Permanent Resident status as she's from Canada. Last May we were at her house after coming back from Montreal where she had an interview with US Immigration for citizenship. A Hockey game came on where the NY Rangers were playing someone and they introduced this guy to come out and do the National Anthem. This dude just blows it AWAY!!!! My wife turned and looked at me at the end and said " I just LOVE your National Anthem as it's got so much Emotion to it " !! I tell ya the way this guy bellows it out and hearing my wife coming from another country make that statement teared me up inside and made me so God Damn proud to be an American!!!
