I hope L3 gets it together with EOTech. I liked my 512 very much. Easy to mount and use and I liked the reticle. Unfortunately, I cannot use a product that the manufacturer knew had defects in certain conditions they said were good to go. In the meantime, I my refund will be taken elsewhere.
If they come out with another optic claiming to have fixed the issues, they face some pretty intense scrutiny. Only after they convince the EOTech haters of function under specified conditions will I look back to them. |

I only noticed my 516 doing this POI shift about a month ago, also very dim even with fresh batteries. Not sure what I will put on my LMT after this gets returned. Im going wait a while until some here get their refund, Im not about to wait a few months and be w/o an optic. So you will wait for results here... THEN wait for a few months? you didnt see the lack of refunds on the refund thread? Being cautious, I wanted to see if the refund was going to be redeemable at only certain places or cash it and buy what you want. As of when I posted initially there were no corresponding posts to indicate that something other than a refund to an L3 industries supplier was going to be issued it was all rumor. Look at the date stamp. If you got L3 gift card how pleased are you gonna be? One would be better off selling it at discount at that rate, suffer the loss and be done with it. But its hindsight now because someone got confirmation of the refund,. Ill send mine in, but what is the hurry. All the smoking deals are happening this month not in Jan. Suggesting I spend money I dont yet have (speculation) so im not without an optic. |

I was just called by EOTECH.
They did not leave a message. I havent been able to reach anyone other than the Accounts department...and I can tell they are not too happy about the phone traffic. ETA: I sent my HHSII in , and it was delivered and sign for by ALVARADO. That was around a week ago. |

In on the EOTech lottery!!!
Returned a 511 dated 2004 & and a 551 dated 2008. |

Antisubmarine operations are very critical here in western Virginia. Between my efforts and the efforts of fellow residents, we've managed to keep our AO clear of adversarial submarines since the late Silurian. But, apparently, that's not good enough for L3? Has anyone gotten word that this is a cash refund? Not store credit?

I just wonder what they're gonna do with all of these optics. Destroy them? Salvage parts for replacements for those that still use them? Sell some to me for $100 a pop?

UPS wouldn't ship my sight. Says it was a gun part. Stupid that they will take manufacturers and dealers money and ship but not from individuals. FUPS! Had to ship USPS. It was half as much through USPS anyways.

It was a local UPS store. Didn't want to drive 30 miles to local hub. Lots of construction going on to get to that place. UPS wanted 40.00 to ship with insurance. USPS was only 16.00 with insurance.

So FWIW, I called EOTech this morning and by way of navigating around their automated phone system, reached a live person who then gave me Mike Krull's name and direct number. Not going to post his number here as that wouldn't be professional or fair to him, but he was pretty helpful. A couple of things:
Hunting Mike down and bombarding him with emails or phone calls at this point probably isn't going to yield any new information and will only slow the process down for him and others like him who are already working hard to make this right. Hope this info helps. BTW, for those of you who are overthinking the "what reasoning should I write in my refund request form?", I don't think it really matters all that much. You probably could get away with "Please refund me as part of the ongoing consumer refund initiative" and you'd be good. Here's what I wrote: "I'm reluctantly submitting my request for a refund as I wanted this particular sight for my M4 CQBR Block II clone build, but cannot be confident that it will remain free from reticle drift or delamination issues down the road. As this is my only home-defense rifle, the sight must be 100% reliable and failure-free for indefinitely. This is a decision I did not take lightly or make in a knee-jerk fashion based on web panic. It is an unfortunate situation all around - for EOTech, for the gov, and for the public." |

Is there a place to check MSRP's. I have a 551.a65/1 NV model from 2006 and don't know how much to ask for it since I don't have a receipt. Since the 551's were discontinued, they're no longer listed on EOTech's site. So I used the $469, which was the price I found on a cached page from Opticsplanet.com. I don't have the link any longer, though. My RMA was approved for the $469 plus sales tax. Optics Planet is one of their licensed distributors. That price is correct for the refund. Your USPS person is an idiot. You can ship a firearm as long as its a long gun. And optical sights are not firearma and nothing in their rules says you cant. The UPS store can't ship firearms at all. It's not in their policy (has to go through a UPS hub). I've sent back a Specter DR to Canada for repair through the UPS Store without a hiccup. I claimed it was a gun sight so I could get $3000 insurance |

So as far as a replacement, I'm trying to stay around $600, so is a Trijicon MRO a good optic, or am I better off with an Aimpoint H1?
