Would it be unethical of me to send in my XPS2 that I got used for like $280 and get a refund for MSRP? I think so Aw crap, you guys make me regret finding the receipt. It was in the original box and it looks like I paid $300 for my 512 from an ARFCOM dealer during some kind of clearance sale back in 2005. |

I only noticed my 516 doing this POI shift about a month ago, also very dim even with fresh batteries.
Not sure what I will put on my LMT after this gets returned. Im going wait a while until some here get their refund, Im not about to wait a few months and be w/o an optic. |

So FWIW, I called EOTech this morning and by way of navigating around their automated phone system, reached a live person who then gave me Mike Krull's name and direct number. Not going to post his number here as that wouldn't be professional or fair to him, but he was pretty helpful. A couple of things:
Hunting Mike down and bombarding him with emails or phone calls at this point probably isn't going to yield any new information and will only slow the process down for him and others like him who are already working hard to make this right. Hope this info helps. BTW, for those of you who are overthinking the "what reasoning should I write in my refund request form?", I don't think it really matters all that much. You probably could get away with "Please refund me as part of the ongoing consumer refund initiative" and you'd be good. Here's what I wrote: "I'm reluctantly submitting my request for a refund as I wanted this particular sight for my M4 CQBR Block II clone build, but cannot be confident that it will remain free from reticle drift or delamination issues down the road. As this is my only home-defense rifle, the sight must be 100% reliable and failure-free for indefinitely. This is a decision I did not take lightly or make in a knee-jerk fashion based on web panic. It is an unfortunate situation all around - for EOTech, for the gov, and for the public." |

I can't imagine EoTech going through all of this and using the specific "refund" verbiage over and over (including in their direct correspondance with customers) only to turn around and issue gift certificates. What would be the point? To turn a huge PR issue into an even bigger one? Makes no sense. |

And it was mailed from Dallas, TX L3 has an office in Carrolton which is next door to Farmers Branch, zip code 75234 Wouldn't someone on this forum have received the "gift certificate" as well. How did this one person get it and no one else? As other have said, BS. |

Agreed; it'll be an actual refund. The emailed replies all state a "REFUND", not a credit, certificate, exchange, or anything along those lines. Just be patient - they're going to be getting thousands and thousands of optics back.
I also agree you don't need to overthink your request. Just put that you want a refund due to the known zero shift issues and an amount (or they'll email you back asking for a receipt). They have to have an amount - just give them one in the initial request. |
|
I filled out RMAs for my EXPS3 and my 553 over the weekend. Now to wait while they wade through the mountain of requests. I did get my Aimpoint PRO over the weekend, but their dot always looks like a star to me, which is why I went with EOTech for so many years.

You're welcome, 223-B. Hopefully we'll start to see those refund checks come in soon. I'll be sure to post any updates (or phone pics of my actual check) when applicable. Personally, I didn't want to send my EOTech in, but then there's the reality that sitting on the fence could result in me being beyond of the window of opportunity to get a refund, so I erred on the side of caution. Eventually they're not going to throw any more money at this and I didn't want to fall into the group that was on the receiving end of that news. Sucks for sure, but I'd rather have the funds to spend elsewhere.

I got approval for my XPS2 within an hour after submittal today. More so, for any liability, in the event that you do ever use it to protect yourself and hit anything other than your intended target.
