FWIW, according to the court documents, Eotech cannot file bankruptcy within 90 days of the ruling because they declared themselves as solvent. After 91 days it seems they can.
However, I'm not a lawyer, and the lawsuit was Eotech vs gov, not Eotech vs arfcom Page 11 http://www.justice.gov/usao-sdny/file/796026/download |

So what's the time limit on this? I have a few Eotech's but won't be back in the states for probably another 6 months. Maybe I should keep one of them and in like 50-60 years it will be like a 1933 Gold Eagle, rare and uber valuable

This really sucks! I LIKE the darn Eotech! I prefer the Eotech style over "tube" style red dots. That is my personal preference and I realize everyone does not agree. Now, I have to decide to get rid of sights that I like because they "might" be defective. imho you should dump them all now while you can still get purchase price for them. once they close the refund period im guessing you'll be able to buy the bought back ones for hella cheap. Buy them then and you'll have made money on the deal Yeah. I'm going to remain cautiously skeptical until the first person reports getting a check. A company this big isn't going to just not send thousands of people a refund check. It's all legit. They are giving checks as refunds. The only question is how long it will take to receive them. It took eotech 4 months to send out my $60 rebate they had as a promo awhile back. This might take a year boys |

Our local agency just sent 65 back. What's gonna happen when they say "sorry all you local agencies....we just screwed you out of $20k+ by lying to you". People worry about something bad happening once they send it in. It will be ok. |

Has anyone found their Eotech to not have a date stamp? I have three, two of them have the serial number/bar code and the date stamp, this one only has the serial number/bar code. It's a 517 if that matters.
|

Rebates are often farmed out to other companies that deal with promotions, rebates often take forever. Anyone know a way to test this? I put my 512 in the freezer for four hours and besides the condensation on the outer surfaces the co witness looks gtg. I picked this over an Aimpoint because I liked the reticle and it hasn't given me any problems to date. If I return this for the $450 and now have to add $250-300 for an Aimpoint plus a mount, and that's if and when I get a refund. I already have my approval but I'm getting cold feet.

View Quote From my understanding, the problem is that if you keep it, you will most likely have a $450 paper weight eventually. It may not be for 10 years, but it could also die tomorrow. Eotech admittedly sold a product that had inherent design flaws for years. Maybe yours will work fine forever, maybe it will last you 2 years, and maybe in 2 years Eotech will no longer exist due to this and you will not be able to get it serviced. Those were my concerns, and why I decided to unload while they're offering refunds. |

It's of course your optic, so do what you like, but don't try and convince yourself that your unit is fine. It's been written in plain English, by the manufacturer, that it is almost certainly not. |
