Time to watch THIS! EOTech cornered at SHOT Show...haha

I would loooove to know the ratio of refund requests vs exchange requests. 100:1? I mean, it's not like EOtech is saying "yeah, we found the problem and fixed it, new sights are good to go at any temp on earth!"...

I mean, it's not like EOtech is saying "yeah, we found the problem and fixed it, new sights are good to go at any temp on earth!"... View Quote It's adorable that they are mentioning exchange requests. I was happy to return my EOTech 512 with delamination issues for a refund, however, I was more than reluctant to return my 2015 XPS2, so I carefully worded my submission to them, and made it clear I would rather keep it if it was not impacted, or if there was an alternative. Instead, I received a canned email reply just the same as my defective 512. So both were sent back. I guess if they are going to stick around after this I MIGHT consider getting another one...but it seems strange they wouldn't be looking into revisions to correct the flaws they kept under wraps all this time. On second thought, maybe it's time for a Trijicon MRO...lol. How best to pick from flawed optics?! |
|
Watching that video I could've probably lived with one of my XPS3's because I am a huge fan of the ring for QCB
But then again why take a risk, IDK. |

Maybe some straight forward honest answers would help, but then again...would they be taken as honest answers? I loved my XPS2 and still am at a loss in finding a replacement optic for my SBR. I want to replace it with a "fixed" EOTech, but maybe they are what they are at this point... |
|
I like how he says they're become aware of an issue....they've apparently BEEN aware for quite a while. It's at least good to see the refund deal confirmed on video. Maybe some that have been hesitant to request the refund, or that have requested it and are waiting to send it, will feel more at ease trying to get their money back.

I think Eotech will survive and that many people who sent theirs back will end up buying another one in the future. I sent mine back as soon as I heard about this........but I have to admit, I read many posts in this thread that went something like "sent mine back, have had it since 2000 and never had a problem", which got me to thinking.....15 years and never a problem is not bad for a 4-500 optic. I've already purchased a PRO but I think Eotech will survive.

Quoted: I always noticed impact to zero in winter vs summer and I always attributed that to ammo....that is until I put a Burris scope on one of my AR's....no shift. I had pulled my 512 off my AR a couple years ago and it was just sitting in the safe. I was happy to hear they were offering refunds, I sent mine back last week...I just hope I get my refund before they decide to stop sending checks. I decided to purchase an Aimpoint PRO to put on my plinking AR....I always stayed away from the Aimpoints because of the large dots...I gotta say I really like the 1 moa dot of the Eotech.....too bad they always had battery leakage and sighting issues. I still have 2 Bushnell Holosights but oddly enough even though they share the same technology they don't suffer the impact shifts, both my Bushnell versions use N batteries....I wonder if that makes a difference? My oldest on is way one of these http://picturearchive.gunauction.com/297590/9100710/000_0622.jpg_thumbnail1.jpg It's had a ton of shots through it on my various .44 mag revolvers and it keeps on ticking just fine....a set of batteries seems to last a lifetime in that one....compared to the newer version that suck right through a set of batteries. I wonder why that old one performs so well? View Quote |
|
Seems clear in the video that Eotech is still going to sell them so why would LaRue or any other stop selling them? Wanna know how many times I've gone shooting at -40? Never. I know this is not the same for everyone but that's not my concern, I'm talking me.
If the problem is exactly like described then I'd consider buying another at a reduced price for a CQB option. It was -2 hear today and the shift at that temp would not matter one bit if some guy broke into my house right now lol. |
|
I've got an old old one that takes n-type batteries. Every time I take my gun out of the safe the batteries are dead, so I don't know if zero shifts or not.

Primary & Secondary has received exclusive information previously only available to L3 Communications employees. The documents below explain some of the product performance issues with EOTech holographic sights that have been long suspected by professional end-users, but have only recently come to be admitted as fact by L3 and EOTech. Topics covered in the memo that is republished below include: thermal shift, reticle fade, parallax, cold weather distortion; and a FAQ covering many of the questions regarding performance of the sights, which are affected, and refund issues. I was thinking that the problems originally noted were more than just reticle shift, but that's all the is being talked about here for the last however many weeks. "Yeah, I'll never shoot in -40 degrees, so why do I care?" Well, it's because they admitted to having more inherent design issues than just the temperature POA/POI shift...as noted above. |
