SO ECONOMY, MUCH GOOD
DETROIT (AP) — Ford revealed details of its long-awaited restructuring plan Monday as it prepared for a future of electric and autonomous vehicles by parting ways with 7,000 white-collar workers worldwide, about 10 percent of its global salaried workforce. The major revamp, which had been under way since last year, will save about $600 million per year by eliminating bureaucracy and increasing the number of workers reporting to each manager. In the U.S. about 2,300 jobs will be cut through buyouts and layoffs. About 1,500 have left voluntarily or with buyouts, while another 300 have already been laid off. About 500 workers will be let go starting this week, largely in and around the company's headquarters in Dearborn, Michigan, just outside Detroit. View Quote |

Shitty companies can still lose money even in a good economy. Not Trumps fault Ford sells a product fewer want to buy or their their labor costs are killing profit.

Sounds like their cutting a lot of the middle managers. Which is a good thing, less bs for those that remain.
And honestly, as a white collar employee you should always be polishing your resume in anticipation of better opportunities and layoffs. It’s a way of life in the white collar world. |

7000 white collar, with most of them overseas.
Sounds like they had fat to trim. |
|
Look at the overall numbers.
This is a leftist propaganda method. When a shit company loses jobs for being a shit company....dont blame the obvious! |

Ford is restructuring, pretty simple.
They are cutting things that don't make them money. Or they could keep everything and struggle |

We need more robots to work.
It's the wave of the future. And cars that will drive under trucks when we don't actually drive cars anymore. |

Does this mean that a new truck won't cost $69k plus? View Quote Weird question, but OK. Attached File |

They are dropping most everything under $50k which leaves the trucks, suvs and mustangs. Don't need as many people to make a smaller lineup.

Almost all manufacturers have stopped making sedans. It is all crossovers, SUVs and trucks. The sedans that are left are made by the Japs. Chevy didn't see the writing on the wall. Ford stopped making the Focus, Fusion and Taurus. We had a Fusion for a while and it was a great car.

Correct. Ford firing 7,000 white collar employees will not cause them to raise their truck prices to $69k plus. Weird question, but OK. https://www.AR15.Com/media/mediaFiles/178958/Capture_JPG-952049.JPG View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Quoted:

$600m reduction in costs. Will this reduce the price of an F150 or will UAW labor costs rise to absorb it?
