They are still expensive. The price of new trucks is crazy. If you buy one used and only a few years old, it is less than half the cost

I'd be interested to know the profit on a new ford truck in both low and high trims.

My guess is they're so expensive new mostly because people are willing to pay it. For a lot of truck buyers it's a status thing.

They are money makers for sure.

The amount of bloat in the manufacturing white collar workforce in recent years is astonishing. As automation has replaced the blue collar workforce, in a lot of companies paperwork and micromanaging filled the void.

I would like to see how much Ford makes and then the dealer. The new expedition starts in the low 50s and goes into the high 70s.

Sounds like their cutting a lot of the middle managers. Which is a good thing, less bs for those that remain.

And honestly, as a white collar employee you should always be polishing your resume in anticipation of better opportunities and layoffs. It’s a way of life in the white collar world.

Sounds to me like it's a case of "Office automation comes to Ford's overseas operations".  When Lockheed Martin went through a round of that I watched a bloodbath of middle level "coordinators", "manager's assistants" and "expediters" who were replaced with emails and texts.

I'm sure that EU regulations have kept a lot of unneeded people on the payroll for the past decade or so.

My girlfriend just started working for Ford's customer service dept.  They just shut down their Philippines dept and moved it all stateside. She's in charge of thousands of agents. So in a sense, they didn't really cut thousands of jobs out of the American workforce, rather, just created thousands of jobs in a different department.

Correct.  Ford firing 7,000 white collar employees will not cause them to raise their truck prices to $69k plus.

Weird question, but OK.

Meh, most big companies could lose at least 30% of management and white collar and never know it because of all the deadweight.

Some could lose even more to include very top heavy upper management. personal.

I doubt I'd ever buy something other than a crossover/small SUV as a primary vehicle.
