Looks like ill be getting some play money as a result of this, since my identity was stolen during this time and it was a huge pain in the ass.

“I was not impacted”
Guess it was another breach that opened a truck loan, opened 3 WF accounts, and used my CC. |
Sweet! I'm eligible, wife is, and three of my 4 kids are too. They gonna love hearing this news!!

Thanks, just submitted my claim for $635. I have easily spent over 20 hours dealing with ID theft since March 2018, and I have the documentation for it (letters from credit companies, police reports, etc.) So I asked for all 20 hours, plus the $125, plus $10 that TransUnion charged for the credit freeze. It's been a huge hassle, and I wonder every day when the next possible hit is coming.....

Note it says UP TO $125. Id bet the up to is when they see 100 million people signed up and the dont have the cash to cover the spread - that then probably averages. Id take the monitoring if you dont have it. View Quote |

I'm on there. Filed the $125 claim. I'll check the wife and our 2 kids when I get home.
Thanks OP. I claimed the $125, then added time for freezing my credit everywhere and the fees I had to pay to do that.

I got an email from the Federal Trade Commission this morning. It says the settlement in the class-action suit for their major data breach has been finalized. Here's the link to the page that directs you to instructions for determining whether you are eligible, and how to file a claim. (I'm getting $125 cash.) Link fixed I hope. https://www.ftc.gov/enforcement/cases-proceedings/refunds/equifax-data-breach-settlement View Quote Thanks for this. Submitted for myself and my wife. |

In addition to the $125, you can also be compensated $25/hr for time spent dealing with this issue up to a maximum of twenty hours. Ten hours or fewer requires no supporting documentation, so I entered one hour for placing credit freezes and nine hours for pain and suffering. View Quote |

None for me I didn't have any credit cards at the time of the breach.
So is this going to dwindle as more people claim it and in the end we all end up with about 14 cents or nothing at all, much like muh Tuna
$250 for the wife and I. I wonder how long it will take to see the money.
Thanks OP, looks like I'm getting $125.
When that actually happens though..... |
I've had 3 credit cards compromised in the past couple of years. Could those events be blamed on the leak? Claim time to cancel the cards, request replacements, activate, change autopay accounts.
They got my info.
I signed up for the free monitoring for 10 years. |
I have IDNotify from Experian for the last year or so since this came out. It's free. They offered it to me along with insurance for fraud back then then turned over to IDNotify. This the same incident on Equifax's side?
Quoted: True, it says 147 million people impacted but only provides $425 million in funds so even if only one quarter eligible apply that is not even 1/10 enough to cover $125 each. That is a ludicrously small settlement amount for the number of people affected. View Quote Thanks for reminding me I'll (we) be getting a check that's worth less than the paper it's printed on. |
Based on the information you provided, our records indicate that your personal information was not impacted by this incident. Equifax has worked hard to make the “Am I Impacted” tool as accurate and up-to-date as possibl I never win these contests. |
OP was a pretty cool guy today.
Looks like I’m getting a new fishing rod soon. I already had a credit monitoring service. |
No reparations for me.
Now if only OPM would offer me reparations... |

@California_Kid
Thanks for the heads-up. I was in the breach. |

Thanks for posting this. I had my identity stolen and it looks like I'm getting about $400 for my troubles.
Was affected did the credit monitoring instead. Don’t want to f up my 835 score
As others have said - if you go straight to file a claim you do not have to input social just basic info and year of birth

Download the free Credit Karma app. Now you have credit monitoring. View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Quoted:

I didn't lie and took the free credit monitoring. Now you have credit monitoring. But it is free, it’s better than doing nothing and hoping your credit is OK, which is what a lot of people do. |

I'm making this go viral at work. Everybody that has checked has been affected.

Difficult choice with the “up to” language. Could end up being $5 in which case the monitoring might be the better choice. Hmmmm . . .
