Given the number of people /patients I see daily in my practice who are lying for personal gain; requests to commit insurance fraud or I help screw a patient’s employer because “they are owed,” I take everyone as a liars. I’ve had military “vets” tell me they were founding SEALs, SOCOM, etc & they don’t recognize names like Mike Vining, Larry Vickers, Richard Marcinko or Thomas Sullivan Magnum….so, I don’t believe much, especially from vets. |

The Post Commander of the VFW I used to belong to in NJ was a little runt of a guy that always bragged about being a SEAL in Vietnam. Always decked out in SEAL clothing (hat, t-shirt, jacket) and more than happy to show you his SEAL Association membership card. Everyone thought he was a hell of a guy and that the post was lucky to have a SEAL as its Commander.
Except he wasn't really a SEAL. He was a refrigeration specialist on a ship and never set foot in Vietnam. Whatever SEAL organization that was investigation frauds back in the late 90's never heard of the guy and confirmed he was never a SEAL. The SEAL Association said he was only an associate member, and immediately yanked his membership. Sadly, when presented with the evidence that one of their Commanders was a fraud, New Jersey VFW did nothing about it.
