Never could figure out where the hell to put my left hand. And don't say on the drum. After a few rounds that barrel shroud probably gets pretty hot. |

My SMG experience is limited to the MP-5 for the most part. So I'm going to vote for that crazy contraption above. It's pretty legit in Black Ops 2. |

First is always going to be the MP-40.
MP5-10 is pretty awesome Beyond that, always liked the MAT-49, and have recently started lusting over the Sten. Beyond that, not to many of them stand out. Maybe the Beretta 38/42 |

View Quote This. I wouldn't mind a CNC Gunsmithing AR45, select fire with a short barrel, either. |

Favorite I've ever fired was the PPsH 41. Bullet hose and accurate to boot. Very effective with the 71rd drum within 100yds. Due to it's weight there is no muzzle climb, so you can put 10 shots in someone's torso in less than a second.

I will always be partial to the MP5 line as that is where a lot of my formal training started on.
That being said, the Mp7A1 is by far the best SMG I've ran to date. It is smooth, fast, accurate, and while not the heavist hitter, it can reach out beyond what I'd be comfortable using 9mm or .45 at. a Suppressed M3 grease gun is the most fun one I've shot though. |

That's how compact the MP7 looked all folded up. |

Its a hard choice between two: The Sterling and the Uzi
The Sterling is great. The one I had in Iraq could eat anything. We used it to "dispose" of excess/confiscated 9mm rounds. It didn't matter what the condition of the ammunition was, or what kind (FMJ, hollow point, etc) it just ran and ran. Hell I think we even fired some 380, 9X18 and maybe some single loaded 9mm largo we found out of it with no problems. The magazines are great from a design standpoint. the dual roller follower is a design concept I've never understood why it didn't catch on for other arms. Ergonomics are great (safety/selector in good place, mag release in logical place for side loading mag, good sling point locations, hand blocks so you don't hold where your not supposed to, good SMG sights) with the exception of one item, the folding stock. That piece is definitely a holdover from a different design era. It's designed to be open or shut, no adjustability in length. To further make it an "open or shut" case, you almost need three hands to perform this task, and one of those hands will get pinched somehow. The Uzi is also awesome. Again, the Hajied one in Iraq was definitely unique. The barrel had been chopped down and they welded a HK G3 flash hider to the barrel nut. The cocking handle was broke, but aloha snackbar was able to weld a piece of metal directly to the bolt to serve the purpose. The ergos on the Uzi are very good. Mag changes are easy and the selector switch is again well placed. The grip is rather thick, but not enough to cause problems. The stock also has the same two position problems as the Sterling, but at least it only takes two hands to work (close) and rarely pinches anything (unless you're careless). The only downside to the Uzi would be the magazines. They work just fine, but the capacity of the majority of them is 25 rds, making you have to load often. |

I've still got 200 rounds of the 4.6mm sitting at my dads place somewhere. I later got to play with one from a major silencer manufacture for a little bit during a class. another year or so later i played with a differnt one at a firepower demo in Va. I love the little buggers. I'f I could only own one gun I'd own that. I would pay $10k if Hk would sell me a semi. |
