count me in the small % of people that don't think much of the MP5 - poor selector location, poor and awkward charger location, poor mag location, and the operating system is way overly complicated for a pistol cal SMG (makes sense for their centerfire rifle caliber guns though). i've always liked the early gen 1 and 2 SMG's, from the MP18 and lanchesters, to the stens, sterlings, M45's etc. i guess i'm just a fan of SMG's. if i had the money to do so, i'd have a MKIIS sten (the "S" version had the integral suppressor), and i'd have an M45. ETA: i have a think for colt 633 and 635's as well. they just look cool to me. |

Thompson for fun.
Uzi or Mini Uzi for serious work. Kel-tec Sub 2000 as fantasy SMG. |

MP5 was the first sub gun I ever fired and will always be my favorite. Simple, rugged, reliable, and fun as hell to blast.

If they were still imported for the "civilian" market and not subject to Hughes Amendment market prices, I'd like to have an MP5SD just as a toy.
But in general, I'll go with this: Quoted:
None.... M4 for the win View Quote If I'm going to bother with a shoulder weapon, it's not going to shoot pistol rounds. |

View Quote I've fired an M12 and it was one of the smoothest, most reliable subguns that ever I fired... and I have fired a few. |

I've fired an M12 and it was one of the smoothest, most reliable subguns that ever I fired... and I have fired a few. This is what an old 18B told me. I want a Sterling, simply because they look badass. The only one I've fired is an Uzi, I wasn't impressed. |

Ones I've fired in order of preference:
MP-40 Sten MKII XM177E2 M-3 "Grease gun" Mac-10 MP-5 S&W Model 76 Thompson PPsh-41 |

M12 & 38a.
I, too, dig the MAT 49. Gallic weirdness in spades but I guess they shot well. |

MP5...because of Rainbow Six. Definitely want a 10mm MP5 http://www.remtek.com/arms/hk/mil/mp5/mp510/mp510.gif Shot one about 10 years ago from an FBi friend of the family in DC area. For some reason I recall them having a 2 round rather than 3 round burst. Disclaimer: I was hungover as fuck so memory is a bit hazy, but I will have a 10mm mp5 one day. |
