Needed some trigger time a friend was in town. Trying to get her into firearms and while she willing she has been timid thus far as while we climb the ladder in caliber and recoil, she held her own.

anywhooo....

That gun is just the tits.
The trigger is awesome, literally. I am in awe of it. Recoil is no problem. Accuracy is laser like.

I'm partial to the double/single action pistols but berettas are too big for me to, and let me emphasize here, really feel comfortable with them. Although I think they're decent.

Sigs are decent too, but there's just something about H&K.

I thought I had enough guns. I sure as shit don't need anymore. I had almost lost interest in shooting.

USP made shooting fun again.

In thousands of rounds through a USP 9mm, USP45, USPC9mm, HK45C, USP45 Match, P2000, and USPC45, I've had ONE malfunction, and it was a split case in a steel cased Russian round of .45

I trust my life to their pistols.

I can't stand the regular trigger but the match trigger is quite nice.  Been really tempted to grab a 9 Tactical, but with the very unconfirmed rumor that they may be updating the USP (hoping a pic rail) I have been holding out.

I have to imagine that shouldn't be too difficult to locate, given our access to the internet.

I would guess that quality and cost would be the determining factor.

I love my HK USP45. I normally carry it cocked and locked

Hate the price tag on them though. I seem to buy more Glocks because they are a great weapon as well as the price Is a lot cheaper then HK...all though they are no HK

I will spend the $ one day for the HK USP compact 45 though...next pistol I buy more then likely

These two HK's in 45acp are probably the best 45ACP pistols on the market..and I like the Sig 220 and the Sig SAO even better but its no HK

Just to bad the full size mags don't work in the compact

The USP design is wasted on 9mm, imho.

I have a P2000, but it isn't the same. Mine shoots way low and to the left, I want to blame me, but NOT ONE OF MY OTHER FUCKING PISTOLS (Glock, Beretta 92, CZ spo1, VP9, Fucking 6" 586, Colt Delta Elite) SHOOT LIKE THAT) it's not worth spending the cash to put adjustable sights on it, so away it will go.

Just get the UTL light its a good weapons light and has been around for at least 20 years.

Few years ago you could buy a LED up grade for them but the company was bought out and they stopped making them along with the M3 upgrade. I have one for each of my UTL and M3 and im sure they can still be found on line.

Even with out the LED upgrade its still a solid weapons light. I am not a fan of the rail adapters for the HK. You can find Holster like Safariland set up for the weapon and UTL but I have not found any for any other light with adapter.

I think HK USP's where the first pistols to be had with a rail if I remember right.

I have 2 Safariland holsters, one is a standard mid ride duty holster and the other a Safariland thigh ride. Both only work with the UTL attached to the weapon

Have used my HK with UTL as a duty pistol off and on for years.

I think the USP shines in 45acp. You can get other cal's but the 45 really shines and its built like a tank

Sorry, I wasn't clear - the adapter on the TLR series makes it slide directly onto the USP rail, none of this adapter to picatinny b.s.  Works like the UTL except it's a modern light and can be had with integrated laser as well.  It's really a good bit better than the UTL - and yes, my recollection is like yours that the Mark23 & USP had rails long before anything else or anything else mass-market (though the Mark23 isn't REALLY mass market).

There is a current and active source for the LED modules, and you can buy the light (not upgraded) for $50 all day at the used gun stores here.

I just did the upgrade, and am into it for about $100 total. Works well and looks good. I had a bunch of cheap lights I bought to upgrade later but can't find them now.

Edit: if anyone is looking for the upgrade module check the HK forum on here. Or PM me and I'll see if I can find the source again. Had the price wrong too, corrected it.

I'd be interested in sources for both - I haven't seen a UTL for sale in person since the mid-late-90s....

$50 for a used UTL + $60 for the LED upgrade? or +$10 for the LED upgrade?  Either way, not bad - I think I'm at $160 for a TLR-4G, which has a green laser.  The basic TLR-3 is about $80-85 on Amazon and you'll have to run down the USP rail key for it, or find one already with the USP rail key.

I think Streamlight calls it a "rail key" and the standard light packages don't include the USP or USPc versions - you can get a package which does or you can get the "rail keys" separately.  I found a deal a couple years back on TLR-4G with USP keys and then bought the "missing" rail keys separately so I'd have the full sets.  None of those fit the Mark 23 though - at least without an ugly-ass adapter to Picatinny

The first time I went to the indoor range to shoot my "new" used S&W 4006, I rented a USP45F just because I liked the way it looked.

I ended up buying 5 boxes of high-priced .45 ACP range ammo just so I could shoot the USP more. I put two boxes through the 4006, after which I decided it was the worst trigger I had ever used (I actually had nightmares that the only gun I had to defend myself was the 4006 and the trigger creep was so bad it sounded like fingernails on a chalkboard and the trigger pull was like 100 lbs.)

The USP's recoil was like a push, like delayed recoil. Their mechanical recoil reduction system really works, and that in itself sold me. Never mind both accuracy was reliability were excellent. I bought a NIB USP45F shortly afterwards and have shot it probably 50 times as much as the 4006. To this day, that USP .45 ACP is my favorite handgun. I also have a USP Compact in .45 ACP that points even better. The limited mag capacity kind of sucks, though.

I love the HK proprietary rail. It makes it look sexy. It would look like a lobotomized USP with a 1913 rail.

People complain about it being proprietary, but I believe HK made the rail before the 1913 existed. Or at least, way before it went popular.

HK was "Tactical " way before anyone else.
