I’m not free and not a Ranger but that’ll happen as soon as there’s judging instead of officiating.

You had the most hits and you were the first across the line is not subjective.

“You put in the most incredible effort in spite of your opponent’s privileges” can garnish a lot of bonus points from the judges.

We did this thread when the first female went thru.

Standards were clipped politics ruled.

Looks like the same here.

And of true, then the females have no honor and are unreliable leaders.

But they got their SJW poster.

My experience with women pilots going through pilot training in the USAF.  We had a couple that did fairly well.  Never as good as the best men.  Most of the others did not complete the course.   This shadows my experience operationally and later on in the airlines.  If you set the bar equally then most women do not finish well.

In the original iteration of this, there were at least 215 -230 (iirc) of the strongest women the army could find that went to pre Ranger school-I say "at least" b/c there was apparently a training program before the pre Ranger school, and I have no idea how many went to that. Those that got through pre Ranger school all failed the course, though they kept recycling decreasing numbers so that 3 eventually graduated, So right now, thats  more than 215 to 1 against a extremely fit woman passing, a woman who had been training exclusively for Ranger School for a period of time. So, yes, for all practical purposes, you're wrong. I wouldn't be surprised if the number is significantly higher, it seemed to be halved each time, so it wouldn't surprise me if 450 women or so went to the earliest training.

Back in the summer of 87 when I was a Chaparral crewmember at Ft. Lewis, they brought a group of females in to see how well they could integrate into SHORAD.  They came in to train and work the towed vulcans.  We were told they were the best of the best.  Turns out they couldn't do the maintenance on the vulcans, such as changing the tires, or do any of the drills on time.  They couldn't load the firing units, the ammo belts were too heavy.  After about two weeks the whole thing was quietly ended and the females sent back to wherever they came from.  Now they're doing infantry, ranger, armor, etc.  Failure of a plan never stops people from trying it again, even if they have to move the goal posts.

Out of all the females I've seen in the military, the average one is worse than the average male. The best ones are not better than the best males. A lot of the best females aren't much better than the average males, and they are an incredibly small minority of the female population. How many female soldiers are in the US Army? What percentage of them have passed Ranger school? What about for males? (adjusted for the length of time females have been allowed to attend, of course). I don't have the numbers to do that math but I'd bet that there is a much smaller percentage of the female population. If you pit those female graduates against some of the best male graduates, I don't see a single one of those females being identified as the very best in a tangible, unbiased grading competition.

That was part of it.

I was there a few classes ahead and had a buddy in that class. I have friends who knew the deceased.

IIRC:
They got dropped off on a non-standard drop off.
They started moving through water that was 4 feet deep or so and when they had to go admin and move to high ground, they didnt know how deep it was to move east and get out of the water.
Dodge and Sansoucie were studs who had gone straight through up to that point and were very run down and had lost a lot of weight.  Guys who had gone straight through got hit the hardest.

The changes:
They put a ton of repeaters and comms retrans tech in that part of the training area.
They had to put lights in trees to improve limited vis helo operations.
The standards for water depth at the drop offs were now go/no-go criteria and IIRC they had to recon the routes before each patrol so there were no surprises if there was a medical emergency.

It may have changed more, later, but the changes in 1994 werent super controversial.

My recollection is that the ground is sortof flat with dips and such until you hit high ground, and if there is recent flooding not having a recon of the depth along the route really was the issue.

YMMV

They pick them. There are ways to cover their ass.  In ALC I had a GPA which was over 1 percent higher than the black dude and female in my group who got on the commandant's list.  They cover their bases by building the 1059s and what they put in them. I also had more "responsibilities" than both of those two combined.

No worries,  hell the media could have directly interviewed tons of Rangers and then still twisted/fucked up/or slanted what they said to push their agenda.

Unless I see a direct quote from someone I know or that is vouched for, I take any media story with a huge block of salt.
