I hope the police are ready to deal with IED attacks. 1960 called I guess he forgot about what happened at the Boston Marathon too. Abortion clinic bomber, Atlanta olympics bomber, OSU University of Oklahoma, etc...all anti-personnel. Big difference between anti-personnel IED's and anti-armored vehicle IEDs. The proliferation of these MRAPs will bring about the shift eventually. |

A M1A2 can't fight against Molotov cocktails. Wanna make a Tanker nervous? Make him drive down a street with buildings taller than the tank. All armored vehicle are vulnerable from above. They might be able to fight them off a bit but a bunch of Molotovs will fuck up a fighting vehicle.

Hell, the guys inside might not even KNOW it unless somebody calls them on the radio and tells them. |

I was a Tanker too. If you drive a tank down a street with buildings higher than you and it takes a few good Molotovs, they will burn the seals out of the loaders and TC hatch. After they are gone, you can't overpressure. Add a few more and eventually you will cause the guys inside some concern. If all you do is make the tank unass the area then you win. The difference between military operations and police operations is that the wing tank could light up the bomb throwers, in a place that only has one armored vehicle, they don't have the luxury of wing men.

Are IEDs really that easy for people to make in a country where explosives are highly regulated? I mean, this isn't the ME. It's been a while since I've seen ordinance laying around, so I'll just assume that the majority if the IED talk is typical loudmouth blowhard nonsense. View Quote Not that I would know anything about it, but I hear there are a few homemade explosives which are quite simple to make. Heck, I heard a tale about one only requiring poop, alcohol, and a high powered rifle for stump removal. |

We are not fighting a war or an insurgency. We are just trying to get that gunman out alive and keep anyone else from getting hurt. |
