I just posted an update on the GFM home page. If you have donated you should be receiving an email. Please take a moment to read it. It is a message from George and family.

Along with them, I and the others behind the scenes want to thank everyone who has participated in either thread and in the fund raiser. It's been humbling to see such an outpouring of support for Mila and Niko. From the members here who have shared personal details of their own battles with cancer, those who have lost loved ones, those engaged in the ongoing war... to those of us that have nothing else to give but money, dog pics and empathy... it is all so important.

I'm asking each of you to remember what it was like to be 8, and then imagine what this would have looked like to you. Could you even imagine it? The wonder, the mystery... why Mom and Dad might be sobbing with joy and relief.

This is what we did in a little over a day.

Simply amazing.

My heart breaks for the family under the circumstances, but I smile at the thought knowing this pretty little lady will be making it though this before too long.

I hope this post is okay, but I feel it needs to be said. I've supported a few similar causes over the years, and know the uneasy feeling you get sending money or even just good wishes to somebody you don't really know. We've all been taken advantage of before, and we've seen some things go sideways here over the years. I don't want to overstep, but at the same time want to tell you on a personal basis - the George and his family are good people, and they are exactly what you see posted. I have the luxury to work with them on a daily basis. George marched with me on Lobby Day 2020. Those of you that were there were probably checked in by him at the brewery the night before, and I would trust him with my life. He's a card-carrying good guy - the person we all hope we could be. I can also tell you he didn't post anything here with hopes of getting help. In fact, I had a late-night call with him the other night telling him he needed to put his pride aside and let us help him. This is not a scam. This is not some newbie taking advantage. This is one of our core good guys and long-term members who is stressed out of his mind and shared his story with us. And he is very reluctantly letting us help. Thank you all for what you've done and will do. This is truly one of the last places like this on earth, and I'm proud to be a part of it.
