Thank you to the mods for cleaning up the spoiler discussion. I want to apologize for failing to edit them in my quoted post. The last time I posted about spoilers, someone thought I should be more specific in what I was calling out as being problematic. So this time I thought quoting the post would be the best way to specify what I thought was an issue.
Now hopefully we can go forward with the season and limit our being disappointed with the new story to Sunday nights at 8 together. It has been interesting in here how even getting what we “want” with Dany being shown in a light that isn’t all favorable, there is still considerable disappointment in how clumsily it is being done. I think that goes to show how it isn’t about liking this character or not. It is about a story that follows the characters and the choices those characters would “really” make and the actions they would “really” be able to take. Character behaving the way they are supposed to is what had made this series great. It is disappointing to see it ending storylines while failing to match the characters as well as has been done in the past. Especially with so many of those failing being for the sake of “subverted expectations” or pure shock value. |

Speaking of Tyrion; What has he done right in the past handful of seasons?
1) He runs Mareen while a Dany is away and the masters betray him and lay siege. He was in a shit position until Dany came saving with Dragon. 2) He did counsel staying in Slavers Bay but was rebuked. 3) His campaign for Westeros ended with their fleet getting knocked off with Dorne and Tyrells being destroyed. A miserable failure. 4) He came up with the truce with Cersei. She betrayed him and it made him look terrible again. 5) I can only surmise it was his embarrassing defense plan of Winterfell that caused half their men to be slaughtered. We won’t replay the embarrassing escapades of that battle...**cough** suicide calvary **cough**. If not his plan, then it was criminal negligence for letting it happen. 6) And again, in this past episode, his campaign for Westeros ended in failure again. Lost another fleet and now a dragon is dead. 7) His parley with Cersei to surrender the capital, and release the friend, ended in absolute failure. Everything he has done with Dany has failed. I would’ve got rid of him awhile ago if I was Dany. |

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't there a theme in the books, from Lady Stoneheart maybe, that suggested that leaving their wolves behind and their Stark'ness, was a fatal error for the Stark men?
I know Jon technically isn't a Stark and this isn'tthe books, but the Starks are his real family. Rewatching ep4, that scene where Jon left Ghost seemed ominous watching it the second time |

Many accusations pages back, when Arya killed the NK and not Jon, about how we were just whiny tits that didn’t see the value/appeal in it being Arya, of that some didn’t like Arya. All of which couldn’t be further from the truth. If I had to guess, I’d wager that Arya would probably poll in the top five of folks favorites here, it wasn’t that folks didn’t like Arya killing the NK because she was a girl, or that those complaining didn’t like her, it was, as you said, out of place, and done simply to subvert expectations, wasting the value of the story. As has been stated many times, the fault lies with both GRRM and D&D. Had Martin finished the story before D&D got to this point we wouldn’t be here. If D&D had any sort of inkling of how the story should go we wouldn’t be here. As I stated myself a few pages back, they were essentially given carte blanche and this is the best they could do. The really sad part is, that not only have they royally fucked up GoT, they’ll be lauded by the danger hairs and SJWs for this screw up and handed more franchises/stories to fuck up. |
