Jon reminds me of that scene in Gladiator where Marcus Aurelius tells Maximus he intends to name him his successor.
Marcus Aurelius: Won't you accept this great honor that I have offered you? Maximus: With all my heart, no. Marcus Aurelius: Maximus, that is why it must be you. THAT is the kind of person you want for a ruler. Not someone who thinks it's their right to rule because of who their daddy is and seems to care more about their own vanity than what's best for the people. |

No, Bran can see with perfect accuracy whatever he chooses to see. But he has to know where to look. He knew who Jon's parents were a couple seasons ago, but he didn't know about the wedding until Sam told him. If they were unmarried, he's Jon Sand. If they were married, he's title, titles, titles... View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Quoted:

Was there some symbolism I missed with the burning Umber kid and the arms, or no?

The question is: will Dany, self-appointed Queen of the World, accept this with grace and dignity? Or will she respond the same way she usually does when things don't go her way? View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Quoted:

Seems kind of stupid while the Night King has a Dragon and could descend on Winterfell at any moment that Jon and Dany would take the Dragons on a joyride and rob the city of its air support and the only weapons that would realistically hold Viserion at bay. But what do I know.

...well she won't be able to respond with a dragon attack. That pretty much strips her of all her "power." This could turn out to be great. The SJWs will lose their shit if Danny gets knocked down a few pegs. View Quote |

Nice setup but I thought an episode of How to Train Your Dragon was going to break out there in the middle. |

I thought it was a good episode, considering this season is time-crunched.
Enjoyed the reunions and the light-hearted stuff, which is setting us up to have everybody we like killed in the next two episodes. |

Sam talked about his sword to Dany.
Sam/jon seen kind if irritated she killed his father and brither. Sam gives Heartsbane (Lightbringer) to Jon and he plunges it into Danys chest. Jon=azor ahai Please make it happen. |

They should have killed Mary Sue in the first 5 minutes.
Now that would have been a good twist. |

I hope the series ends with the white walkers (the dead) winning and basically killing everyone, showing that no matter how much you fight each other for trivial purposes, your kingdoms etc etc that in the end, death always wins.

Dragontits: Oh BTW Samwell Tarly, I had your dad and brother Dickwad burnt to ash.

Sam played telling Jon well. He told Jon about what Dany did to his dad and brother making Dany sound like her dad after Jon telling everyone all episode she isn’t like Aerys. Then he tells Jon he could/should be the king.
Now the real conflict next episode is going to be what to do with Jamie. Jon is going to be deciding what to do with Dany based on whether she goes all Mad King on him. |

Quoted: I can't imagine that happening, but I am trying hard to guess what will be the unhappy outcome. One of the cast said something about 'some wrongs not being setting right'. I'm trying to guess what they are. Biggest fuck you I can think of is Cersei and Euron fleeing on defeat and surviving in exile. View Quote |

Didn't see this posted: As it's been famously recounted many times, Martin had to tell showrunners Benioff & Weiss about "the major beats" so they could continue the story with an ending on sight. Just how detailed these "beats" were has been a topic of much discussion, yet here the author puts the rumors to rest. If there was ever a possibility he merely offered a few key moments and a vague outline for the rest, it's now clear that wasn't the case:
"We're talking here about several days of story conferences taking place in my home," Martin clarifies. "But there's no way to get in all the detail, all the minor characters, all the secondary characters. The series has been extremely faithful, compared to 97% of all television and movie adaptations of literary properties. But it's not completely faithful. And it can't be. Otherwise, it would have to run another five seasons." Martin adds that the show being "a different version" of the books is "true of every adaptation." In fact, when asked about whether he worries people will have the show's ending in mind before the books, he makes it clear there's not that much of a difference after all: "I don't think Dan and Dave's ending is gonna be that different from my ending, because of the conversations we did have," he says, decisively putting many rumors to rest. "But on certain secondary characters there may be big differences." |
