Quoted: They act like Jon Snow was this great character. On paper maybe but onscreen he was nothing special and kind of boring. IMO he was portrayed as kind of a muppet. I am really not impressed with HotD so far. I am not saying it sucks but no way is it epic. For all you guys pretending it is and making excuses for it - please go back and re-watch the first four episodes (five after tonight's airs) of GoT and tell me how they compare. Quoted: 3. Bran not having heirs wouldn't matter. After Sansa publicly announced her brother's dick doesn't work (no idea how she'd know that) they decided to have the high lords "vote" on the next king despite the fact it would almost certainly lead to war. View Quote |

Quoted: The structure was a clumsy attempt to recreate the Holy Roman Empire, where the six most powerful lords did vote on who became the next emperor. The problem really comes from putting Bran on the throne while simultaneously allowing the North to go independent. You have a king with no support among the lords and no chance to forge alliances through marriage. What would actually happen is you'd cut political deals to select the next king. Lannister would marry Tyrell and promise the Martells Hand of the King, or something like that. View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Quoted: Quoted: 3. Bran not having heirs wouldn't matter. Not a chance in hell that happens without war. If the people that ruled when the series started were still ruling then maybe, but not now. The biggest problem is, as you and I have previously discussed, Bronn. |

I admit that the idea of the remnants of GoT wiping each other out until the last standing wins a Pyrrhic victory does sound cathartic. However, they just don't have the budget for that. Plus even if they did they'd never write it that way. |

I wonder why the show is pushing that the king already has one foot in the grave. He's not supposed to die for another 15-ish years

Another shit episode IMO. Robert Baratheon's line sums up this show so far - "And that's all the realm is now: back-stabbing and scheming and arse-licking and money-rubbing."
I am not looking for every episode to be like Michael Bay directed it like some moron here said earlier. I am looking for good material. I am going to say it again. Go back and re-watch the first five episodes of GoT and compare it to this. JFC even the abbreviation of the show - HotD is short for Hot Dick. |

How can they do an entire sex scene and not once do we see a titty! It must have taken weeks to shoot that with all the place, ent of thing so we couldn’t see a titty. WTF.

I didn't think it was that bad. I keep hoping these first 5 were necessary to get to the real meat of the show.
I think, though, it's just never going to measure up to the original and my expectations may be too high. |

i like the show. not as good as GOT though.
what HBO should have done was pick up another book series in the same genre. abercrombie's shattered sea series would have been a very good choice as would the first law series. both series have very interesting characters and good stories. you need both, along with spending the money to make it right, along with throwing in a few veteran actors to get a series off the ground in a big way. |

It's not the greatest piece of writing ever, but I'd like to see it on screen if it has a good vfx budget. I thought they did a great job tonight. In one episode they moved the story along ten years without any confusion as to what is going on, with great setup for the rest of the season.

the acting quality also leveled up with these older actors taking over

The series has now been transformed into a bland shit show. |

Yes, it really did but the dissimilarity was kinda striking, from Rhaenmanyra to someone way more mature and normal looking. And where did Daemon's wife come from? Was she in the last episode (E05)? I guess she daid now, right? |
