That's kind of interesting. Do you have plans to attach anything to the walls, add shelving or build work workbenches?
|
|
Most guys around here do the metal ceiling and either OSB or drywall on the walls. OSB would be my choice and paint it to your liking.

For a paint booth or maybe a workshop where walls need washed down.

Yes I have and yes I would do it again in a heartbeat
I used "u" panel rib from Mueller Metal and they run the color on the opposite side so you get a more attractive surface. My shop at home is done this way and my retail store is done this way. Just had so.e people drive over from Texas this week to look at my store. Their metal building guy is a customer and he wanted them to see it because they were thinking about doing their new metal build "cabin" with metal interior walls |

When I built mine, I did solid masonite to 4' then the rest pegboard above.

Certainly not below 3' or so. If your garage is used for anything garage like, you will have a bajillion dents and dings within few years.
You mentioned slat-wall? Just use that. Do you absolutely need anything under it? |

I'm seriously considering T&G western red cedar for my garage renovation.

I, for one, prefer half finished sheet rock and exposed insulation. But I am from the south and have a junk car in front of my house. Your milage may vary or something.

How big is the wall? Slatwall is about $65 A sheet for Anchor Core and cheaper for the economy stuff. View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes |

I'm trying to avoid going there. I was just about to order a semi load of Lista cabinets from Motorhead Extreme.

I have cabinets on one end. I bought a boat after buying the house and didn't think about the POA not allowing it to sit out side. So in the garage it went! But it didn't fit, I opened one of the lower cabinets and the outdrive fits perfectly in the opening. Now the garage shuts and everyone is happy lol.

My plan is a white metal ceiling, OSB up to about 4 feet and drywall the rest of the way up with some strategically placed slatwall here and there.
Most of the wall space is going to be taken up by cabinets, workbenches and toolboxes anyway. |
|
Just put up drywall, and don't bother to finish it. Cheapest option really...
|
|
Looks OK until the first dent. Then the issue of hanging something. Once that hole is there its there.
If I wanted something simple I would use the fiberglass stuff over drywall. They make adhesive hangers that will hold 50lbs. |

Previous house I just put pegboard on ribs over the drywall on 2 of the 3 walls.

I love that place, got a great discount on my Armorpoxy floor and now I'm addicted to penny deals at HomeDepot.

When I do get around to finishing the garage, they had 4 x 8 sheets of fake siding, different patterns, at Home Depot that you could put on the wall and just paint over.

Not sure if you have codes or inspections. Any garage wall that joins to the house has to be sheetrocked with 5/8 fire rated. This applies to the ceiling, too, if their is living space above the ceiling. So you would end up having to sheetrock, at least the one wall, and then put the sheetmetal on top of that.
