The fact that she waited almost a year to tell you is the issue here. If it was a month into whatever you were doing then that's different from banging another dude yesterday.
Personally... that would be the issue for me anyway. A month of dating and she sees someone else? Nah fam you're not engaged or married or anything, and a pinky promise is shit a month in. She should have told you as soon as you two looked to be long term. |

Let me make a few suggestions.
The next time, you should never ask a woman for an exclusive relationship. She should be the one asking you. After a while a woman will start making hints that she wants an exclusive relationship. You should say, "It seems to me that you're hinting that you want an exclusive relationship" If she says, "yes", that's when you should tell her to complete a relationship application form. I have one in my computer. |

I no longer believe in marriage, but if I'm having sex with someone, then she is the only person I'm having sex with. I don't do things this way because I have an ethical problem with having more than one partner, I do it to lower my risk for STDs.
For OP, it sounds like this relationship ran its course. I would recommend that he keep in mind that she probably didn't know early on whether she wanted to commit. And she probably fessed up when she got to the point of wanting a marriage-track relationship. I mentioned a couple pages back that people tend to admit to the smaller crime, so there were probably others. I think going forward OP should let the relationship mature a bit before getting into any new pinky promises. Either way, sounds like this worked out for the best. |
