The top 3 will be branded by the press as extremists early on. So they'll be out, as will Huckabee, Palin, and a few others. Then the press will allow the field to sort itself out as the primaries come up. Once the field is narrowed, they'll pick the candidates off one by one for various reasons (Carson? Nice guy, but he's a doctor..... Doesn't know anything about running a country, can't have him running).

So we'll wind up with a shit sandwich of 2 or 3 RINOs, and 1 conservative, who at the last minute will be discovered to have some kind of disqualifying skeleton in his closet. So he'll be out, and it'll be Tweedledee, Tweedledum, and Tweedledumber left to duke it out with Hillary, Warren, or some equally horrible candidate.

Paul graduated medical school from Duke and worked in private practice for 20 years before being elected to the senate.  Multiple other people on the list worked in government for their entire careers.  I'm having a difficult time getting excited about yet another career politician.

Rand Paul or Ted Cruz is the correct answer; the rest don't interest me at all.  Coincidentally (or not), it seems Paul and Cruz are the only two names who the Republican establishment finds absolutely unacceptable.

Don't get me wrong, I like what Scott Walker has going on here in Wisconsin, but the only way a prototypical white male upper crust Republican is going to stand a chance in the next presidential election is if the Democrats also run a prototypical white male upper crust Democrat.  You can rest assured the Democrats know running a female or non-white is the ticket to winning in 2016, and if they do and the Republicans don't, guaranteed four additional years of Democrats controlling the White House.

The straw pole does not mean anything.  The Paul's pack pole with supporters and generally win.  When push comes to shove and votes really count for the Presidency they only get enough votes to insure the Democrat candidate victory.
