The Phantom of the Opera (2004) is much more watchable than the 1925 version.
Lon Chaney is a better phantom though. |

On the TV front ... "V" maybe?
Definitely not the X-Files. Movie front ... there have been umpteen remakes of "A Star is Born" and "Love Affair" (An Affair to Remember) and also "The Talented Mr Ripley" was probably better than the original "Purple Noon" (which I first saw while living in Italy and it was a big hit). All depends on the generation watching I suppose. |

The Texas Chainsaw Massacre. The Longest Yard. Psycho. I could go on.... View Quote . You sir, are swine. Wrong on every single one except The Italian Job. |

I agree with The Thing, I'd also say Dirty Rotten Scoundrels and probably Maltese Falcon, but the version before the one with Bogart was good too though.

I am Legend.
It's basically Omega Man, even though they changed the name. It's better than Omega Man in my opinion. |

Pocahontas
Making the natives giant and blue and using interstellar spaceships instead of transatlantic ships and machine guns instead of muskets was a stroke of genius. |

Does Bladerunne 2049 count?
Because I thought it was better than the original blade runner and the original was excellent. But I’ve got a mancrush on Ryan Gosling, so there’s that. |

Quoted: Lotta guys posting movies that are sequel/prequels in here. View Quote If a prequel/sequel movie is made after a significant amount of time has passed with significantly different writers, directors and/or actors (more than just a cameo)… wouldn’t that qualify as “rebooting” a franchise? Reboots don’t have to be the “same” story. |

I saw a new Scooby Doo tv series that's really good. Way better than the original.

Quoted: You can’t possibly be suggesting “Aliens” was better than “Alien,” ‘cause that’s just crazy talk. Alien was a far better movie. Aliens, while a good movie, wasn't even in the same genre. Also, Terminator was leagues better than T2. |

Quoted: Man, all these fuckknuckles saying The Thing, are they saying the 1982 version is better than the 1950s version? Or are they fucking delirious and saying the 2011 version is better than https://i.gifer.com/6fc5.gif https://64.media.tumblr.com/9faa06839d0bb586649c76940b118044/0ddf5c06c9f89d52-42/s540x810/9814037f81268f4bc4fdfac7bc574fdc4d00fbbb.gif https://giffiles.alphacoders.com/182/182190.gif View Quote 1982 "The Thing" is better than 1951 "The Thing from Another World" and that isn't easy. The 1951 version is a classic. I had actually forgotten about the 2011 version which was mostly just "meh." |
