Quoted: No, no aliens. But a few planets formerly occupied by humans, or in the case of ' earth ', human form cylons and their version of toasters. View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Quoted: Quoted: I sooo want to say that's sacrilege, but you're totally right.. new BSG made sense at least... I do need some help remembering though: did the rag tag fugitive fleet in the remake ever encounter aliens other than cylons?? there were ovions, borays, the weird 2 mouth singers on carrilon in the original.. and the remake lacked the Count Iblis storyline... Oh and Lost was better than Gilligan's island... No, no aliens. But a few planets formerly occupied by humans, or in the case of ' earth ', human form cylons and their version of toasters. Cool!!! |

Quoted: The Phantom of the Opera (2004) is much more watchable than the 1925 version. Lon Chaney is a better phantom though. View Quote 1000% WRONG. 1925 is best. The 1925 version was later recut, partially colourized, had sound added then re-released in 1929 Don't forget the 1943 remake staring Claude Rains Another remake in 1962 staring Herbert Lom by Hammer Film Productions The 1988 animated version The 1989 remake with Robert Englund The 1998 Italian version Then you get to the 2004 version. Don't forget the spin offs like the Phantom of the Mall or the Phantom of Paradise. I know I'm forgetting several other versions but you get the picture I'm sure. All of it stemming from a book by a French writer named Gaston Leroux back in 1910. It's my favourite book btw. |

The Departed. A lot of people don't know it's a remake of the HK movie Infernal Affairs.
Shameless maybe? I've only seen the American version. |

I thought about mentioning Old Boy, but it's really hard to decide which version is better.

Robin Hood: Men in Tights

The “original” Magnificent Seven.
It’s a direct remake of 7 Samurai (Japanese movie from the 50’s), just set in the old west. 7 Samurai is quite good, but Magnificent Seven is better. The more recent remake was…ok, I guess, but by far the least of the three. |

Quoted: Magnificent 7. Gone In 60 Seconds. King Kong. War Of The World's. Walking Tall. Oceans 11. 3:10 To Yuma. The Jackal. Death Wish. The Italian Job. Killer Elite. The Mechanic. The Texas Chainsaw Massacre. The Longest Yard. Psycho. I could go on.... View Quote Remake of Psycho with Vince Vaughn and Anne Heche? Death Wish with Bruce Willis? Definitely not. No Texas Chain Saw Massacre sequel or remake has been better than the original. |

Quoted: How about Transformers(2007)? View Quote Hell no! Just about everything Michael Bay touches turns to garbage. Transformers (1986) is a classic animated film that doesn't hesitate to kill off major characters. It has a coherent plot, distinct and memorable characters and a fantastic voice cast including Orson Welles, Leonard Nimoy, Robert Stack, Judd Nelson and Eric Idle. Transformers (2007) is poorly scripted nonsense with a ton of revisionism to the original concepts that constantly makes forced, unfunny jokes and stars Shia LaBeouf and Megan Fox. How is that better in any way? |

View Quote Definitely better then the movie. There's another reboot inbound and they already rejected a screenplay by Brad Wright for the pilot |

Quoted: True Grit View Quote Quoted: BSG View Quote These men are both right. The Thomas Crown Affair also worked out well, although the original was a solid movie in its own right. On the other hand, rebooting Thunderball as Never Say Never Again was not a great move. And The Day of the Jackal was brilliant but The Jackal was fermented garbage. |
|
From the technological aspect and special effects, yes it was better, some chilling scenes. What ruined the movie for me were the two kids. It seems they were shoehorned into the story and were annoying as heck. Both versions the Martians/Aliens, when seen outside their craft, were not very interesting nor threatening. I still like the original, if not for no other reason than nostalgia.

Heat ,, big budget remake of LA Takedown. Same script, almost exact same dialog. Different actors and different guns.

Quoted: Serious talk here. Alien was a far better movie. Aliens, while a good movie, wasn't even in the same genre. Also, Terminator was leagues better than T2. View Quote Finally somebody who gets it! The lean, mean horror of the originals is way more interesting than the bloated action film sequels, even if they are two of the best action films ever. |

The correct answer to the OP’s question is NO.
Remakes always suck. Hollyweird is so uncreative, unimaginative, washed up, drugged up, no talent bums they can’t come up with anything new they just keep remaking old classics and turning them into shit. |
