1000% WRONG.
1925 is best.
The 1925 version was later recut, partially colourized, had sound added then re-released in 1929
Don't forget the 1943 remake staring Claude Rains
Another remake in 1962 staring Herbert Lom by Hammer Film Productions
The 1988 animated version
The 1989 remake with Robert Englund
The 1998 Italian version
Then you get to the 2004 version.

Don't forget the spin offs like the Phantom of the Mall or the Phantom of Paradise.
I know I'm forgetting several other versions but you get the picture I'm sure.

All of it stemming from a book by a French writer named Gaston Leroux back in 1910.
It's my favourite book btw.

I give you points for passion, and the book is indeed better than the movies. I’ll have to find these middle films though, as I haven’t seen them.
I need to find a VHS player to rewatch the 1925 too.

You can watch the 1925/29 releases free on YouTube all day long.
Phantom of the Opera has been public domain a long time.

Finally somebody who gets it! The lean, mean horror of the originals is way more interesting than the bloated action film sequels, even if they are two of the best action films ever.

Serious talk here.
Alien was a far better movie.
Aliens, while a good movie, wasn't even in the same genre.

Also, Terminator was leagues better than T2.

LoLz
Thanks.
Aliens and T2 are good but so different from the original they could almost stand on their own.

So much better to be exact. But again it's not what the OP was asking. Neither are reboots.

You could make the argument that both movies rebooted the franchises from horror to action.

I don't think you're understanding what I'm saying.
My argument isn't that they are reboots but that they so radically changed the format of the movies that they may as well be different films altogether and just share a name and universe.
Not that they are remakes.

Either it becomes stupidly woke, they use special effects to cover for poor acting, or they lose the ''flavor'' and originality [duh] of what was trying to be expressed to the viewers. And when the original was done in black and white, it can lose the starkness portrayed and what B&W pushed even more to the screen.

The first two Robocop movies were great... If you like B- grade special effects (I'm looking at you, ED-209). The story is pretty good though, and Robocop 2 does have the original folding SMG in it, which is cool.

Robocop 3 is an abomination, and should be stricken from the record.

I really can't remember much about the new Robocop movie, so I think it's time to watch it again.

The 1980's & 1990's series was awesome, most episodes were very true to the books as well & Jeremy Brett crushed it as Holmes.  They also didn't feel the need to make Watson look like a bungling idiot.  To bad Brett got sick towards the end & died, would have loved to see them cover the rest of Doyle's original stories.

@Zam18th it could be that I saw the remake first. Then when I watched the original it seemed like a massive disappointment since everyone said how much better it was than the remake. Didn't hold true at all.
