Probably one of my top 5 remote droppers is Tombstone. Never saw the movie Wyatt Earp until tonight. To beat Tombstone to me is a tall order. I felt as if there was not as much detail to the bad guys in WE than in TS. I also feel as if WE could have been at least an hour shorter. Weird at how both movies got the story lines VERY close to each other. Morgan dying on the pool table, the train station scene in Tuscon
And what the hell is with John Behan being such a weasel? BOTH movies! So which did you like better? |

Rustler's Rhapsody...
However, Tombstone wins. There ain't no memorable memes from W.E. |

I liked things about both.
Tombstone captured more of the color and dash of boomtowns, but was really corny in the "Heroicness" of the Earps. The Old West dialogue was excellent in Tombstone, and completely lacking in Wyatt Earp. Wyatt Earp characterized Earp better as a cold, calculating and morally ambiguous man, but the set design and costuming was out of a 50s oater. Doc Holliday was Kilmer's best role, and made the movie. Dennis Quaid played a much more accurate and realistic Holliday. The romance between Earp and Josie was handled better in Wyatt Earp. Joanna Going was more age appropriate(and slutty) The Vengeance Ride was pretty well done by Costner, and a disaster in Tombstone. I wish you could shuffle both like a deck of cards. |

Costner was good in Silverado and open range, but this isn't a question. Tombstone by a mile. Disagreement means you vote for communists.

Tombstone had better outlaws, better actors, better script, better plot, better camera work, and better action.
I watched both recently, and except for a couple of scenes, I forgot how bad The Costner movie was. |

The only western better than Tombstone is the Good, the Bad, and the Ugly.

Quoted: Outlaw Josey wales or unforgiven View Quote Yes. However between the two choices given by OP I would go with Wyatt Earp. Tombstone as someone already pointed out above is a typical Hollywood Buddy movie. Wyatt Earp was more epic but they could have found a better actor than Costner. I think Pauly Shore would have been better even. |

Then resume Wyatt Earp at the point Earp leaves Arizona. |

I really like Kevin Cosner and all the other actors in Wyatt Earp, but Tombstone told the story so much better.
Tombstone is the 'Shootout at the OK Corral' movie that all others will have to live up to from now on. |
|
Wyatt Earp was a fictional account concocted by his mistriss/wife.
Had one brother that was a real hero though. |

Wyatt Earp for me was the better of the 2. I watched Wyatt Earp 1st sonthat might have something to do with it but I like the actors and acting better in it. I also like the fact it gives a more complete story about the man. It isn't just about the shoot out, it builds the story better then goes on after.

Tombstone is better. Wyatt Earp is good, but not great. Tombstone is pure Hollywood western magic.
|
|
Tombstone because of Val Kilmer's portrayal of Doc Holiday .
ETA : Curly Bills "I feel just capital" was also highly entertaining |
|
"I'm your Huckleberry."
versus "You may all kiss my Rebel dick!" |
|
Tombstone by far. It is definitely the classic. The cast was tops and the script brilliant. Wyatt Earp was a one time watch movie. Tombstone is a "break out the popcorn every time you watch" type of movie.

Tombstone by far.
It is my favorite movie of all time, so I am biased. |

Quaid's Doc was the only thing about W.E. that I did not care for.
Was kind of pulling for B.N.K. when she fired the revolver. They're both good movies, one is about a small part of W.E.'s life, and the other, much more detailed. The scene in W.E. where Wyatt explains to the wives why they don't rate as high as the brothers, and the end scene, when Earp and Josie are on the ship,,, Marshall Earp Saves Tommy ORourke.wmv I do prefer Wyatt Earp. Stupid question is stupid.
It’s not even close. Kilmer made Quaid his bitch in every way. How many quotes do you remember from “Wyatt Earp”? |

Some of you... This thread makes me fear the future of this country. Seriously, Is this how you vote? You are given two choices and you give me a movie that wasn't on the list? I predict voting will go this way

Every movie Costner is in is good in spite of Costner. The man is as wooden as my coffee table.
Tombstone is a more entertaining movie. |

Quoted: Tombstone was magnificently entertaining! I mean, what compares with https://thumbs.gfycat.com/SafeScarceAdamsstaghornedbeetle-size_restricted.gif I saw this in the theater and at first people chuckled but by the end they were rolling in the aisles and cheering. Also, wasn't the shootout at the OK Corral meticulously duplicated? View Quote It's true. Doc Holliday really did fire three shots out of a double barrel shotgun without reloading because he was just that good. |

Tombstone was a better movie, certainly more fun.
But, honestly, Costner was a better Earp than Kurt....but Kilmer owns Doc Holiday. |

They botched the phrase in Tombstone. It should have been “huckle bearer” No. Please put this to rest. Huckleberry is in the script has has been found in literature in similar usage back in the 1920s. It just means I am your man. It has nothing to do with coffins or anything else. Attached File |

View Quote Seemed like it was just the same shot from different angles. If i remember, on shots 2 and 3 you can see the guys legs fly out behind him both times. Not sure if it was just hollywood being stupid or supposed to be instant replay. |

Tombstone by a mile, Costner's best Western was Free Range with Duval and Annette Benning (yum)
Outlaw Josie wales for the win ,even though I watch all three repetitively when they are on |
