I guess NDS is building ar180 lowers and are going to offer upper receiver kits (you build). Ill be taking one of those if i want an outdated 5.56 rifle.

LOL the AR-180 isn't outdated, it has damn near all of the features everyone wants.

If they make a receiver available that collapsible stock version would be a great trunk gun...

What's the track record of these rifles?

I've heard of them but have never heard about reliability, accuracy, etc.

Should be close to building a HK93/33/C93.

I'm gonna guess a barrel for the C93 will work, same goes for compliance parts, trigger pack and US mags are 3 parts too, so compliance parts should not be an issue. That leaves the receiver. Without having parts in hand, again I'm guessing a semi C93 receiver could be used with the Cetme L parts grafted to it, sights, tube, mag well.

I'll get one, but I'll farm it out. This will go good in my collection with my Cetme C, HK91 and C93.

Historically, this is the next best thing to a STG44.
This was VonGrimlers design - the Engineer who worked for DWF/Mauser on the STG44.
After the war, he ended up in Spain & designed the CETME rifle - the Germans bought the design & designated it the G3.
Alas, 7.62 should never have been - this is the Intermediate cartridge Design, as originally intended.

I have a 7.62 CETME and would infinitely prefer something like this, especially taking AR mags.

Without receivers, barrels and compliance parts, it is just a junk pile.

Speculate and buy the junk pile or wait and pay more for something you know will be useful?

Way too much involved with trying to build something like that. If they got a hundred thousand or so kits then it would be worth it to tool up a receiver flat. Looks cool, but not realistic.

Its a 50 year old design that has seen very little development since its introduction and has almost no aftermarket for parts and accessories. Its a good rifle and im looking forward to the NDS upper kits. I hear they are building them with ar barrel extensions, ar handguard compatible, and a flat top picatinny rail upper receiver.

The thing is, Kit guns are usually built as cheap as possible. Button rifled, shitty steel, unlined barrels that wont handle heat like the original barrels, Shitty made recievers that arent made to spec in either material or measurement. shitty rifles.

I'd take one if it has a to-spec hammer forged Barrel with plenty of vandium and a thick chrome lining with a stiff to-spec reciever.

but otherwise I give not 1 fucks.

I'll buy a few kits, somebody will make a receiver and barrels if enough kits come in the country! I held off on too many kits because no receivers were available, only to have receivers available long after the kits sold out

We've been discussing this build on another forum and so far here is what I gather...
The
C93/HK barrels will most likely interchange (1 US 922r part). It's possible the barrel or trunion may need some slight adaptation, or then again it may be a direct replacement, we just won't know till the parts are in hand.
Next we
need someone to stamp some receivers which will allow the Cetme L mag
well to be grafted on. (1 US 922r part).
Then comes the fact that these use AR mags, (body, follower, floorplate) (3 easy US 922r parts).

The biggest reliability problems stemmed for the SB made mags they were issued. A modern US AR mag with a magpul follower would be a great upgrade to the surplus mag these were issued with.
The flash hider can be replaced with a US made FH (1 US 922r part).
So
we are at 6 US parts at this point.
The cocking handle is something commonly replaced
on HK clones with a US made item, that alone would bring us to 7 US parts.
The hammer or trigger could be easily replicated with a US part which would put us way over if we decide to keep the surplus cocking handle.
For
builders with some welding skills that understand HK bolt gap these should
be a straight forward build for anyone who has done an HK or Cetme in
the past.
The whole thing hinges IMO on the receiver and hopefully Apex can help source those as a 80% part.
These Cetme L's are looking very doable IMO.
