Meh. I've spent lots of time in the library and minored in Geology in college. The Earth is a very different place compared to a couple million years ago. In addition, there's no direct correlation between past eruptions at Yellowstone and the size of the current magma chamber (if they even measured it accurately). Every volcanic event is unique in intensity and volume/nature of ejecta, and just because one eruption spread shit for a thousand miles doesn't mean they all will. Last but not least, there's not been a wide-scale event in modern times like some are predicting to actually observe and see what the actual damage would be. Million-year-old geological evidence is compelling, but not convicting. Remember, many experts were predicting St. Helens would render the area sterile for decades, and were amazed when plants were found sprouting there within months of the eruption. These same experts love to paint pictures of massive devastation wrought by natural forces. |

A list of Super Volcano eruptions. Note how Mount St. Helens only produced 1km of material and Super Volcano's produce 1000km+ material.
