IMHO everyone should have an AK or two, and all the accoutrements, however I guess the days for amassing inexpensive ammo for em are over...

I've only got 8 or 9 and I thought I was slacking.
And the Garand is the most fun. Get one. |

Every American ought to have at least one 30 calibered rifle, doesn't matter if its single shot, bolt, semi, or lever action.
Course having a garand, m1a, ar10, ak variant, bolt, lever and single shot in 06', 308, 300winmag, 30-30, 762x39 is just fine since ammo for any of these calibers can be found near anywhere |
|
|
|
Just get a good 308 bolt action, Tikka, 700, Savage or older Win 70. Everyone should have a 308 bolt socked away for any future troubles.

For me, I went 8mm Mauser (K98K), .308 Winchester/7.62 NATO (PTR 91), 7.64x54r (Mosin), 7.62x39 (AK47), and 30-06 Springfield (M1 Garand).
|
|
All of them.
I’d say you have to start with x51 I’m a big fan of 300 though |
|
Get a .308 AR and a .308 bolt - in that order. You're in NC and .308 will meet most of your needs. Spend at least $1400 on the former and $1000 on the latter. That doesn't include optics.

The law of the land states:
Get a .308 if you pee standing up. Get a 6.5 creed if you pee sitting down. |
|
|
Meh, sold the only 308 I had years ago..I have a 300 rum, it does everything I need out of a 30 cal bullet...
|
|
I voted "Fucking 13ers" because I only have six .30 cal rifles.

39.
Weapon of the oppressed worldwide. Plus it's fun to shoot and those 123 g. fmj's penetrate well. |

.30-30 Marlin 336
7.62X51 M1A .30-06 Garand 300W.M. A-Bolt 7.62X39 Yugo NPAP I think I have the 30 cal. group pretty much covered. |

My .30 caliber rifles outnumber the smaller ones. Though the bigger calibers outnumber the pussy little .30 calibers.

Had to think about it for a minute,
.30-30 .30-06 .300 BO .300 WM .308 ETA, I don't consider commie or limie s a god given .30 caliber |
|
LMT MWS and a solid bolt gun with similar barrel swap capabilities if you don’t want to start buying tons of optics and guns that fill the same niche. Expensive, but it works out to be less down the road.

I had a .300 WM 1980's Remington 700 . Stainless with synthetic stock. Gave it to my brother because my hunting days were over. Incredibly accurate with Federal Premium 165 grain Nosler partitions. I couldn't press anything more accurate.
Started hanging around here an learned the term, "Overlook" or "Over watch".. Want it back. My 12 and 14 year old daughters killed several deer with over 200 yd shots. Limbsaver recoil pads are GTG. |

.30-06 else you are a filthy heathen commie. P17, 1903, or Garand. Bayonet mandatory unless you want to die by the hun's 8mm.

View Quote I bought a T/C Compass in .308 during a sale / rebate. Damn cheap rifle that's a damn tack driver. Had to follow it up with a Compass in 6.5 CM, because because. I'm not the world's best rifleman since the surgeries, but these are two rifles that I can consistently shoot into MOA or near-MOA. Attached File |
