In most of Europe, there are still no fats, but skiing is a whole lot less expensive than here.

Skiing just doesn't lend itself well to fat out of shape people.    Fat people are disgusting.

Back in 2000 I Managed two Ski Resorts in Park City and there where issues with high rents for the Employees.

Can't imagine how big of a problem it is now.

Here for the giggles.

I live in Tahoe and work part-time as a coach at Squallywood. Ski 100-ish days a year. The resorts are chock full of tourists on the weekends, but very few poors. One of the first things that occurred to me when I moved here is that EVERYBODY is fit. Zero fatties. Folks live here to play in the outdoors. At school orientation they told our kids that they WILL sit in a classroom with a future Olympian.

Lift tickets range from $280-300/day here. Beers are $16. Burgers are $22-25.

Once you get through the initial price of gear, skiing is cheap with a pass (3 days covers the cost of an Ikon pass). Shooting is vastly more expensive these days.

Headed into the back country this AM. Some days you walk for your turns. I can guarantee there won't be fatties or crowds out there. I'll bring a beer and a sandwich with me.

South Lake is a completely different beast. I guess I should have specified that there are different parts of Tahoe. No casinos or buffets on North or West shore.

Clearly you don't live in a ski town. The dirtbag stoners have the best weed because they grow it. Half of the vacant houses here used to be grow ops. Since it's legal now, they just have hoop houses all summer. 99% of my snowboard friends smoke weed. The percentage is much lower amongst skiers. Not sure, why.

If you're a veteran Vail resorts has a pretty solid deal on season pass for you and your dependents, I paid around $550 each for my wife and my season pass to all Vail ownedc resorts. If you're active duty or retired its a screaming deal, somewhere around $200 for season pass.

Just got done with a couple days skiing in Coumayeur Italy. The Alps are pretty spectacular, but Colorado's snow on a powder day is much better.

It is a great mountain (my favorite for powder)  Vail also owns Breck, Keystone, the Beav, Crested Butte, Whistler, Heavenly and a bunch of snaller hills, so you can mix it up pretty well.

Lift tickets in Italy were around 70 Euros/ day, way easier to stomach. Not many fat people ski in Europe either...

Lol, I forget how cheap tickets were back then but they were cheap that first year, maybe 12 bucks, 1983 or so.  They were giving chili and hot chocolate away too.  Almost begging people to come ride there.
Had a  Breck pass back then and lived there, but the Beav was so worth it.

Stop packing all the fresh!

Nah, you operators are 10/10.  One of you pulled us back up to the wolf creek base area, back when that was a thing. Might still be?
Did it in the 90s a lot.   Kind of a euro vibe to the backcountry and some really good turns without having to climb/skin up.

That is kinda funny.  Before I gave up work for lent I was an electrician in the nat gas field and we had snowcats available for compressor station access.  Those guys were always a riot driving us in.  I would try and get the guy to take us up some stupid steep pitch, and I’m glad he declined.

Wolf cr had that cat access back to the base area, and used to throw out 2 - 100’ ropes with loops every 10’ feet.  Kinda like water skiing.  Except when someone who couldn’t deal with it fell and the operator wasn’t watching.  Train wreck.
