One cup sugar to a gallon of fresh brewed tea. Must be dissolved in tea while hot. Pour over a glass of ice and laugh at the Yankee sissies who drink it unsweetened.

closer, but still wrong.

sugar must be added while water is boiling, but add slowly enough to prevent the water from cooling.

You need the chemical reaction of the water and boiling water for proper sweet tea.

Let me ask a question. If northerners don't drink sweet tea why does a "regular" coffee come with cream and sugar? That never made sense to me.

I don't lemon my drink unless I'm making an AP. Will I drink tea with sugar or lemon? I can if that's all that's available. But I make 2 gallons at a time of my sun tea. Bliss.

Straight with lemon.

Southern sweet tea is nothing but flavored liquid sugar. Be easier to just drink a cup of sugar with a couple tea spoons of water.
